Hello.
First time poster here. I bought a PRS McCarty a couple of years ago and am having trouble figuring out exactly what it is.............special order, artist model, standard production model, etc.
Serial number 8 36080. Dots, not birds. Vintage sunburst. Solid Brazilian (I think) rosewood neck with separate BRW fingerboard. There's no back plate over the electronics cavity (it was autographed by Paul to the original owner and he wanted to keep it for sentimental reasons). Stop tailpiece. The original owner also kept the original pickups (they had some heavy duty green corrosion on them, I would have thrown them out anyway).
I can't find another RW neck PRS with dots anywhere. It does say McCarty on the truss rod cover. The logo is a thin script sort of inlaid a little bit into the wood in gold, perhaps, plastic material.
Any clue to exactly what this one could be and what the current market value might be?
Many thanks in advance.

Hello Fbrandw.
I'm new and trying to figure out how to add a photo as we speak.
While I'm pushing buttons and trying to figure it out, any suggestions?
Thanks.

Welcome btw :) And if anyone can help it's Markie for sure, check out his post history, the man knows his PRSi! Actually most people on here are like awesome PRS wizards lol

Weren't all of the Brazilian McCartys built in 1999? Pull the bridge pickup and post a photo. Here's a pic of my Brazilian McCarty:

Hello again. Thanks. I think I have it figured out now.
Photobucket and all. BUT..........................my pictures haven't posted. I'll try again in the morning. Thanks again.

It could (most likely) be an Indian RW neck McCarty. They did exist back then...

Oh, and they did make the BRW ones with moons. I had one...

And the run of BRW McCartys had signed and numbered backplates...

Hello.
Ahh. Source mode. Cool. Now, I can use my Return key to make paragraphs. See? I'm catching on.
Anyway.........................I remember the back plate saying something to the effect Brazilian McCarty and a number engraved on it. Also "To Barry, From Paul Reed Smith" written on it. Barry kept it for mentasental reasons. I can probably track the previous/original owner down and ask what it says..
