i just recently purchased an SE custom 24 in Trampas Green from Sweetwater yesterday and I was wondering if it has a gloss neck or a satin neck...
I haven't been able to try any where I live, and I couldn't resist the price and color (I have never felt this way about a finish color on a guitar like this!!!!) and I pulled the trigger...
I hope it's satin like the CE models, but with the new SE models, I don't really know...

Thanks for the info again, guys!

I believe all the SE's have a gloss neck unless it's a limited run or a signature model with that spec.

Can someone point me to step by step instructions to do the sanding down to a stain feel?
Thanks again!
You guys are great!

Best way, I think, is using scotchbrite . I think that's what it's called. Basically, the rough side of a ktichen sponge, if that makes sense. Less rough than steel wool, so it will be a bit slower, but safer I think (no accidental "deep" gouges, no metal flakes getting in the pickups and messing stuff up).

Use painter's tape to shield both ends of the neck where you don't want to "sand" it back. You can make it semi-curvy so it looks and feels nice. - like this, for instance: http://www.rareguitarsonsale.com/im...sche_gitaar_Tortoise_Shell_headstock_back.jpg

Instead of Sanding the neck (lowers resale value), try 3 coats of Meguiar`s liquid cleaner//polish car wax. Add another coat when you change strings.

Thanks for the replies! I can't wait to get the guitar to 1: see if I need to do this and 2: to try it out if i need to!

Yeah, definitely try it out, first -- I do love my satin neck, but my favourite non-PRS neck of all time is glossy as hell (it's basically fiberglass, so I can't satin-ify it), and I find that the more important thing is to keep it clean.
