Neck Problem

I am pretty new to guitars. Recently purchased and SE and recently started noticing a weird issue where I am getting a buzz on the low E. The string feels loose, if that makes sense, when in tune. While checking out the guitar I noticed the finish cracking a bit around the base of the neck and the base of the neck neck is rising up from the body. Can this be fixed by a truss rod adjustment or does the neck need to be reseated?

Take it back to where you bought it. They should help you get a replacement.

Unfortunately I bought it used.

Ok, looking at the pics, it's not that bad. I thought you said the neck was coming out of the body, it's not, that's a normal thing. The neck angles different to the body is a 'design feature'.

This is just cosmetic, and should not affect playability.

The buzzing string should be able to be taken care of by a proper luthier, as suggested by @rpoce24

Most likely cause provided no damage is needing a truss rod adjustment or the saddle on the bridge needs adjustment.

I agree 110% damage is no big deal. Looks to be just finish. Get a setup and you'll be good.

Go somewhere else besides guitar center if you can. Call around and find a good tech. Heck a good one even advertises on craigslist near me but there's another on a nearby CL I wouldn't take a guitar to. Find a reputable shop or PRS dealer and you'll be playing in no time. Remember electric strings make some noise, especially when new, its through the amp that is most important.

Sent pics to PRS and they believe the neck has moved, possibly in shipment. Hoping the repair is not too expensive.

I have the guitar for a few months. Not sure this happened. I've always noticed some tuning issues but haven't noticed the movement on the neck until last night. So can't be sure.

Neck problem

Sounds like this isn't a neck problem, per se. It's a damaged guitar problem. In my opinion, you've got some 'finish pop' which is usually caused when too much stress is applied to the neck joint. See what looks like a hairline fracture on the neck as well (highlighted HERE).

Was it shipped to you in a case?

Either way, I agree with comments above. This should be easy to remedy with a qualified luthier.

I was going to post a neck problem joke like "try a new pillow or possibly look into getting a more firm mattress".

But that's really strange, this looks like a SE Paul's, and there's another one at Dave's right now that had a neck reset.

Neck reset? Say it ain't so! That's a rough thing to mentally process on any PRS. Once you see it, you can't unsee it

Luther should be able to fix the playability issue, agree 100%
