I had a Takamine that had seen a pretty rough 15 years by the time I got it. Still sounded very good, but the neck was in rough shape. I had a luthier appraise the cost of fixing the neck. The cost was about what I had in the guitar and about what the guitar was worth. He offered me $400 for it against a trade for a new PRS SE Angelus Custom that was already marked down $200 (for a PRS meet and greet). I took the deal and I'm very happy with it. Even had Paul sign it at the meet and greet.
Well I went to my guy today and he said the guitar is suffering from dehydration. No big deal just humidify it in the case and you should be good to go.
Great news for me and bad news for the GC I pretty much stole it from.
They are the ones who told me the neck was bowed.
