Nothing super special, but these US made amp cabinets are getting harder to find, since they stopped making them. The wood stain matches the charcoal finish of my SC HB II, which I have been playing a bit recently, so that was a nice match.

Stock, as far as I know, so should have the Modified Celestion V30.

I got it to "round out" the sound from my HXDA 1x12 combo (pictured sitting above it). It has a darker sound than the HXDA speaker (I tested them back-to-back one at a time via the 16 ohm jack), and the speakers at different heights push the sound around the room different than just one down low (even if on a tilt-back stand) so it fills the room a bit more evenly, IMHO. Sounded pretty good at very loud volumes.

Now that I have procured this, a 1x12 in the gold paisley that I really wanted to match my HXDA will show up on the used market shortly, of course. And I will buy it.

Nice! Do both cabs fill the frequency spectrum well, e.g. more low end balanced with the 2nd cab's upper mids? If so, very nice indeed.

I wish I had the big mouth cab instead. I think it wold be a better match for my Archon. The pine cab has a warmth that is very cool for cleaner and mid gain tones, but i think I’d prefer the depth and punch of the other version. I figure Les and I should trade. :)

Not sure if still there, but a couple of big mouth 2x12s were on Reverb over the weekend. Almost pulled the trigger myself.

Yes, they do fill it out a bit better - the 1x12 cab sitting on the bottom, I guess due to its closed back, is deeper sounding. Definitely fills it out nicely. And even though I have the cab + combo speakers plugged into the 8 ohm jacks, compared to just one through the 16 ohm jack, it sounds louder with both of them (in theory, the power transfer = loudness should be the same in both cases). I'm guessing the two 16 ohm speakers are interacting with the amplifier a bit differently through the 8-ohm tap vs just one through the 16-ohm tap of the transformer.

Great cab, and nice score!
Score!!!

It is a bit of a shame that they don’t make cabs like this anymore.
Congratulations, great addition.
Beautiful!
Nice score!!

Thanks everyone! It is a bit odd, IMHO, that they stopped making these, and now offer only the import birch-ply 1x12 and 2x12 cabs (with no classy wood fascia). But as Paul always says, if you stop buying them, we stop making them.

I had the 2x12 version of that cab - still miss it!

I have a 2x12 closed back that came with my 100W Archon, with matching Black Gold flame finish. It is a really good match, sound-wise, for that amp.

I also have a 1x12 closed back cab that came with my Sweet 16 head (Tuxedo finish), but it is rated for 30W, vs the 60W rating of this new-to-me 1x12 cab. Different speakers, I guess? I should research that...

Yeah, there's one in Maryland that is "local pickup only" that I've watched for months now. I can't drive to Maryland to pick it up... if I had a buddy at the factory...
