Got a new-used bass today in a trade, don’t need one but felt like getting one to bang around on. Not really a bass player but I can fake it somewhat.

It is a 2002 German made Warwick Corvette. Bubinga body, ovankol neck with a wenge fingerboard. Was shocked to see brass frets but they feel good and look cool. It was upgraded with Bartolini pickups and an active preamp. It’s in pretty amazing condition for its age. Gonna grab a small amp and make some noise, see where it goes. Nothing like thumping away on big strings 😎

Any suggestions on an amp to go with it? I would like a decent sounding amp that could hang with a drummer if the situation arises, but also not break my back lugging it. Doubt I’ll ever gig with it.

Nice.
Fair warning. The bass Is very addictive. I started playing guitar in 1972. (Yeah, I’m that old) Around 2001, the band I just joined needed a bass player, so I bought one and went for it. All these decades later, bass is still my main instrument. Without getting too philosophical; There’s something about the subliminal power of a bass to support, lead, uplift or subdue the music that other instruments (well, maybe the drums) don’t seem to posses. It is a bridge that ties all of the other voices and instruments together. It, along with the drums. is a foundation that all of the other elements are built upon. It is the unseen conductor that can control tempo and intensity, cue changes, pull others back into groove or back on key, or take it in a new direction altogether.
You have been warned…

I rented one for a session in France, of all places. It's a fantastic bass.

Nice Grab!

Don’t for a minute think I didn’t have that very same thought!

What's the weight on that? About 15 years ago, I had a fretless Warwick with Bubinga and it was 14.4 lbs. I used to go to 2 hour rehearsals on Tues & Thurs and come home from each to lay on ice my back would ache so bad. I gave up on it and returned full time to guitar after 4 months or so of that.

Ever since I got my Phil Jones BG 450 no one complains they can't hear the bass. Adding the extra cab gives it 500 watts in a teeny package. It sounds amazing to me. I play a 5 string and it pushes out a sweet low B frequency. Super light too.

Very nice bass you acquired!
