Went back to Casino Guitars to try out the new HDRX 20, and this happened...

I have never had the pleasure of playing a Marshall Plexie on 10, so I couldn't say how close it is to one but I can say it sounds good, I mean real good. To me it nails the Jimi sound (as it should) and with some humbuckers I hear some Led Zeppelin out of it as well. I won't go into a full review cause I think Andy pretty much nailed it with his.
As you can see I have a Class 5 that I was using for my classic rock sound but it always sounded dull and life less plus with no master volume it was just way to loud once you got it to break up. To me the HDRX 20 is everything I wanted that Class 5 to be. It looks like the Marshall will be collecting dust, the only thing that is making me want to keep it is the fact that it is a UK made Marshall, but that made in UK sticker sure doesn't do a thing for its tone.

Oh yeah!!!

I forgot some of those Class 5’s were made in the UK. But, yeah, the HDRX is pretty righteous! What’s in the cab?
Two Greenbacks (The made in China ver.)

The class 5 can be a really nice amp with some mods, but stock, I agree it’s pretty bland. Congratulations
I heard they can be good with mods before, I was just never into taking my amps apart, I feel if you pay a good bit of cash for an amp you shouldn't have to re make it for it to sound good. Thanks

I miss my Class 5

I also wish I lived near Casino Guitars. Love their videos on YouTube
Yeah, they are a pretty cool group of guys, a little crazy but cool. You can go into there store and pretty much tell them "I'm just looking and don't plan to buy a thing" and they will tell you "Take down what ever guitar you like and have at it even the $8,500 Fender Custom Shop", which I can tell you that $8,500 Custom Shop sounds really nice through the HDRX 20 ;). I live about 10 min. from the shop. Funny thing was I watched their YouTube videos for about a year before I realized they were right down the road.

Congrats!
Thank you Sir.

Thank you Sir.

Nice!!!

I definitely want something of that flavor for mine. Kinda torn between getting the 1x12 and putting an H75 or M65 Creamback in it (don’t love the V-Type in a closed back), or just get the matching 2x12 with H75’s already in it. I have an open back 1x12 with an Alnico Cream that sounds great with it, too, it’s just not as much of a classic pairing.

Yeah, the Greenbacks pair really good with this amp. The Creamback would probable sound real good too. I have a PRS 2x12 cab that is partially open back and came with V-Types in it, I use it for my SE 30 amp. I tried it with the HDRX and it just didn't sound right to me, hard to explain, maybe a bit to airy, and not as tight.

Ah, a man of fine taste… I used to have a 30 too. Always kick myself for never trying it with an open back cab. It was a little too full with a closed back. Sold it after I got my Custom 50, but it was a great amp.
