My new-to-me ‘22 Vela arrived today! Purchased off of Reverb used for what seems to be a very fair price.

I now get why so many people fall in love with Velas. This thing is a joy to play. There is just something about it, that I can’t put my finger on quite yet. It sounds unique and great, it is super comfortable and the look is a total vibe. I’m a convert to Vela-ism!

I love my Vela Satin and about the only thing I'd consider trading it for would be a Vela Semi-Hollow Satin. Beautiful guitar!

Yes! It came that way from previous owner, but he shipped it with the original black pickgaurd in the gig bag pocket. I thought for a second that I might replace it, but the tort-on-satin-black looks even cooler in person. I'm sticking with it!

I also have some other ideas about mods for this thing that I have been obsessing over for the past week while I was awaiting its arrival. But now that I have the guitar and I'm in total honeymoon phase ... It is so much fun to play as is, I am going to hold off on doing anything crazy just yet.

I have the same pickguard on my McCarty Burst, and I love it. It looks incredible on the Satin Black.

Playing this one for the past few days is highlighting how much more comfortable I could make my other guitars. The action on this Vela is perfectly low, just high enough for no buzz. I switched back to one of my other guitars and my fretting hand was fatiguing much faster!

Also, is it weird that when I’m not playing it, I can’t stop staring at it? It’s just a cool looking instrument.
