My poor kid...

I have this poor kid so confused she doesn't know which way is up...

I have given her the following options.

2012 P22 Stoptail - Nice used instrument with some minor dings. She wasn't nearly as excited about the piezo as I thought but likes the guitar.
2012 Santana - She LOVES the color depending on the day, hasn't been able to play the core version just an SE. Will have to explore this one more.
3 different 2012 Studios - Do these all have 57/08 in the bridge? Seems very versatile. 2 are in her top 3 choices of color.
Several Custom 22/24's from private parties - scares me a little buying sight unseen. The one's at the dealer's are not on her color list.
s2 custom 24 - new with enough money left to either swap the pickups immediately or buy a small tube amp for her room(maybe both).

Then I really confused things and told her she could get 3 se's lol... That might have pushed the boundary of emotional torture a bit... I feel bad for that.

I wish I could help her some way with this choice but other than giving her the details about them I am trying to stay out of the way. One thing that was cool was when we were on our way to yet another shop on Saturday she told me she just wants to get one that is pretty because she knows Paul wouldn't make something that wasn't fun to play. I thought that was pretty cute.

If experience is any teacher, whatever choice she makes it won't be her last PRS. Like many here, for me, there's always the next one.

The Princess and the P22?

That's about where I am with it at this point... I have carted her a total of 1000 miles looking at guitars over the course of the last 3 weekends.

Oh no... The next one is MINE! Granted, I will get to play this one but my main guitar will still be an SE for the time being.

I'm with Serge on this one. Having all that versatility would be awesome for a new player.

BUT, it's still her choice and I commend you in the effort you are taking to make it happen for her!

I was thinking along those lines too. She think's the p22 is beautiful(which it is) but her response when we plugged the piezo into an accoustic amp was "I already have a taylor for that"...

It's definitely not out of the running by any means. Would you guys agree that, barring the piezo, the studio would be the most versatile of that list? All 3 studios are trem guitars. When we head back to the big shop I'd like to highlight the strong points of each one as she tries them out again. They all do the bridge humbucker rock machine very well lol.

I agree that it's superdope you're hangin' out with her and going to all these places together!

I'd get the Santana and give her my SE...

Crap... there's a dgt 10 top in Makena Blue too.... I don't think she saw that one. And of course there's about 50 korina McCarty brazzy's, though they don't have the figured tops. I might have to go down there the night before with her and stay in a hotel so we can be waiting when they unlock the door when that bonus gets here lol

I like that idea but that isn't the deal that was made lol. I like my se. I put a lot of work into hot rodding it and to be honest, I can play it right next to a sc245 and if you blindfolded me I probably couldn't tell the difference. I've played a TON of core line instruments, les paul vintage reissues, G&L, ect the last 3 weeks and none of them really make me look at the SE with the slightest bit of angst.

Ha! I've got an SE like that too!

It's great that you and your kid are bonding over guitars.

Just one small critique...

PICTURES WOULD REALLY HELP! (Ok, not really. After all, it's her guitar. But who doesn't like pics?)

There will be pics once she makes her finally selection. :)

It's the very best to share an interest with your kids!

My son and I still share stuff about guitars and gear all the time, and we started sharing that when he was a little guy. He was recording at Electric Lady in NYC over the weekend, and called me on Face Time to give me a tour of the place. I mean, c'mon, that was really special and fun. And it all started with just going to the guitar store and later playing music together when we were in the mood.

My dad's a boner. I love him with all my heart, but we only do lame guy stuff like home projects, and now he's quit drinking... boner.
