My HFS sounds somewhat dark?

I have a 2013 Custom 22 that plays and feels great but compared to the bridge pickup in my 408, it sounds quite a lot darker. I keep seeing the HFS described as bright but that’s not really the case here. They sound about the same unplugged, with the Custom 22 maybe even sounding a little brighter.

I’ve got it set to factory spec height and so on.

Anything else I should check?

No. The 408 is a brighter pickup.

I never found my HFS to be super bright. Mid-heavy maybe but not bright or thin.

I found HFS/VB combo way to dark

Always felt HFS/VB combo were way too dark. Modern PRS pickups are much better IMHO!!!

They are better for sure. I can't say a single bad thing about 59/09 and 85/15. Amazing pickups
