My first PRS (what would you choose)

IKR! Sold mine to Gush last year. The other I had I traded to Rider1260 (along with my DG30) for his MEII

Well, the MEII is a worthy deal. I will let that slide. Selling to friends is acceptable, too. :)

Hey everyone! Bodia needs an HB. Let's roll!

He needs an archtop more ‘cause he hasn’t tried that yet.

Interesting. Continue...

Yep, definitely this. And VB is right, because I haven't tried/had one yet. There was one foolishly priced at $2,499 several months ago. Decided to sleep on it, and it was gone by the time I decided to pull the trigger the next morning. Still on the hunt.

My first (and only) PRS is a Core McCarty (2010 model) with 57/08 pickups. I was actually looking for the best Les Paul I could find, and on advice of a few people I trust ordered this one sight unseen from Reverb (after talking quite a bit to the seller).

The guitar is an absolute delight.

If I were to get another PRS it would probably be a Core Paul's Guitar, but a Gibson ES-335 with P90s is actually higher on my priority list as my McCarty does everything I want a dual humbucker guitar to do, and I have a high-end Hss Strat and an upgraded Tele for almost everything else I'd want from an electric. Someday maybe an SSS Strat or Silver Sky to finish out the herd.

DO IT!

There was one in the family when they first came out. It was really cool, and totally unique. At the time, the "collection" consisted of two electrics (a '92 CE and a Godin LGX). Keeping it didn't make sense when I was gigging hard alt-rock (Incubus wasn't a big thing, so I never even considered using it for that, and I was afraid to gig it).

Now, I'd love to have one.

Still, SC HB IIs are pretty killer...

Hello everyone!

Knowing what you know to day, what PRS model would you choose as your first PRS guitar?

I’m strictly a home player and i play just about any genres, but more of melodious lines like caruso.

I’ve been looking at custom 24, custom 24-08 and 509.

The 509 seems to be much less popular then the Custom 24.

I can only afford one Core model (for know), and a second one would probably be some time further down
the line.. So what would you all choose?

Given your choices I’d personally buy the 24-08. It’s the best guitar I’ve ever had.

However it all depends on what you’re looking for. I exclusively played Strats for 15 years so my first PRS was a CE 22 bolt on; because that’s what felt best at the time. I now have several, I don’t play gigs anymore and I only play the 24-08 and occasionally the Angelis.

Oh, I will, as soon as I find one for the "right" price. I'm in no hurry, this time!

I'll say a Mira, as a 2008 version was my first (and so far only) PRS. It's inspiring, capable of many sounds (especially with use of the tone control) and makes me feel like I'm a better guitar player than I probably am.

When I was shopping a few years ago I was looking for a McCarty or maybe a Swamp Ash Special, found the Mira and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did, although lately I've been thinking of selling a couple other guitars and getting a second PRS.
