Man what a great guitar! Always wanted one of these and I saw this one and had to jump on it... .1995 Custom 22, 10 top, with birds, original hardshell case, Dragon IIs I think.... paid 1600. Anybody know the name of this finish?

HOLY MOSES THAT TOP. Love the perpendicular grain with the flame. And the color. And the stoptail. That is one hot axe, you ever decide to let it go, let me know!

thanks man! I normally don't impulse shop guitars... I was actually trying to post here and get some advice, since I wasn't sure it was worth the price etc etc.... but man. I was like you... THAT TOP just sold me and when I played it I was blown away.

That top is insane!!! Hard to tell from your pics...is it light green or a beautifully faded whale blue?

I don't know the name of the finish...it's like greenish blue and then fades to natural on the edges moreso on the bottom of the guitar.

Not sure of the original finish. Since there is no scraped binding it could have been royal blue. The pups, if original, are Dragon 1's, my personal favorite PRS pickups.

Yeah I bet they are Dragon 1s, because they sound absolutely outstanding. I thought Dragon IIs because the kid who sold it to me had it advertised as such, but then again he referred to the finish as "the paint job", so I'm not totally convinced by his ad. I'll open her up and check eventually. And the kid said the original finish was called whaleburst or something.... although I doubted him again since isn't "whale blue" a dark blue like navy blue? This one is almost green and faded on the edges.

The older blue finishes were very subject to light exposure, so this might likely be a whale blue that's spent some time in the sun. I think it's a beauty!!!

Yeup I think you are correct, I found this guitar on line, where the owner claims the back is still whale blue, so the top likely got faded out:

I think there was a finish called emerald back then, I could be wrong. That one reminds me of my first PRS, late 90's, purple 10-top, rotary switch, dragon II's, great for shred & metal. Sold it, wish I hadn't.
Nice piece you found there.
