My daughter’s gonna be an actor!

I can’t recall if I posted this link. Kailyn’s part is only a second or two long, right at the 5 or 6 second mark. She’s in a goofy hat on the right, in a wheelchair and waving.

Her full part was being wheeled into the cafe, sitting down and having a cup of tea. This little bit is what made it to the final PSA. The process was fascinating, everyone was super charming and welcoming, or just ignored us completely because they were working. They let her bring the sweater, hat and sparkly shoes home. We got done shooting right before 8 pm, and drove from LA to right between SF and Sacramento. Got home about 2 am. Kailyn was in class at 11 am that morning.

We spent 12 hours in the car, 2 nights in the Omni hotel near the studio, got woken up at 2 am the first night and had to evacuate for a fire alarm, day one was wardrobe and day 2 was shooting. It seems a lot for a little, but we had a blast, and my daughter is now a paid professional. All in all, a great time.

Dayum fine!
I can't think of a better way to spend the time.
I'm very proud of you guys and especially your daughter for having the gumption, tenacity, and the kindness to help put this together.
You are all an inspiration.
Merry Christmas... ya done good! :)

Wow-- what an adventure!

I'm sure y'all will remember that trip for many, many years to come. That's great he was allowed to keep the wardrobe articles. The stories she will tell :D

Sweet! Great spot, and it had to be a lot of fun for her as well.
Oh she had a blast. We were near a 2 block enclosed food stall space that gave us most of our meals. She was treated really well, the director gave her a pep talk before her scene. The Omni Hotel is older, but very upscale and about a quarter mile from the studio. It was only about $50 a night more than the fleabag hotel that purportedly featured cockroaches lol. They had a town car that drove she and my wife to the studio both days. Because of the fire drill, they comp’d us 5 pm checkout the last day, and watched our bags until I left. I finally got permission to come watch the filming about then, so it worked out great. That midnight run from LA to the Bay Area was a long one though!

I've seen a lot of shoots. It's always either a great experience, or it's like watching paint dry, depending on the crew and director.

Sounds like your family and especially your daughter had a great time. How wonderful!
