My Bernie, 1st Time in Studio

Guitar sounds pretty good.
Interesting site. Howd you do that? Is it part of a bigger site? How do you record music onto it?

I'm a web developer by profession so I just built a site to share some of the ideas I've been fiddling with for a while with old friends.

I just went into a studio, recorded my playing and back up tracks, came out with and mp3, and uploaded the mp3 to a private web server I rent.

Clips or it didn't happen!

Jk. Very cool.

Right on man. It all comes together very nicely.

Very, very cool. It's a great tune, and the playing and tone are superb.

Reminds me of a cross between Weather Report and Return to Forever only more modern. I wish I could play that well!

Wow. Weather Report? Return to Forever? That's a serious compliment bro! I only wish I could play half as well as Bill Connors/Al DiMeola/Frank Gambale.

Leathan, that is some great playing and excellent tone. Is the Bernie stock, and care to share the amp or amp sim? I am pretty ignorant about jazz, but really enjoy the (relatively) modern guys like DiMeola and McLaughlin that would play through a Marshall (ok, even if that era was 40 years ago... killer tones and mind boggling playing). Props for keepin yo tone real!

edit: side note - slick webpage. You know what you're doing.

The guitar is a 100% stock Bernie Marsden SE from 2012 (No. M30266).

Amp is a Mesa/Boogie Express 5:50 plus head through a Mesa 2 x 12 cab. "Burn" channel, 50 watt option, with gain set at about 1:00.

Actually, this guy.

Truly, the Bernie is the best $700.00 I've ever invested in a guitar.

Funny you mention John McLaughlin. There are a few recent interviews (last 3 or four years) on youtube where he seems downright angry/bored with the current state of jazz guitar in general. He seems thinks it's too "polite" and "safe", etc. You get the sense he'd love to plug back into a Marshall after all these years.

McLaughlin should show the rest of the world how it's done, once again. Through a Marshall :)

Thanks for the amp info, Mesa + PRS = whoda thunk? Really great tone once again, shows how well those two manufacturers compliment one another when the right pieces are used. Whatever Bernies are going for these days, they're definitely worth it. Mine came in today - used one in nice shape. You're right, stock pups are great. I've known about G&B brand for over a dozen years, they can build a good pickup. Tomorrow I'm getting the Laney out and feeding the Bernie into it for some Matt Pike riffs. I know that combo will hit it out of the ballpark. Talking with a buddy who has a studio to capture some of this stuff.

I totally identify with your guitar work!!!, it's very fusion rooted and reminds me more of the Chick Corea electric band with Frank Gambale than Weather Report or Return to Forever.
Great sounds man, after I'm finished with my pop project I'm gonna record some progressive instrumental stuff, you've inspired me.
