Multifit hardshell case... 594 doesn't 'fit'?

I purchased a new 2024 DGT that came with what I believe is the multi fit hardshell case. I just tried to put my 594 Core in it, and let's just say, it takes some pressure to close the top/lid compared to the DGT or even my CE24. With the DGT or CE24, the top easily closes and makes contact with the bottom of the case prior to latching. With the 594, I need to apply some pressure to align the latches before closing them.

Is it possible the case is 'wrong' for the 594? Is this to be expected with the 594? Can anyone shed some insight.

My 594 and DGT, both core guitars, have the same case, the same one in your picture. The 594 is a little thicker body than the DGT. That may be what is causing it to fit differently. The foam will compress in the lid and it won't be an issue with the 594.

I’m probably beating this to death, but I noticed on the product page for the multi fit case doesn’t actually specify the McCarty 594 single cut…. However, the new ATA flight case D1 DOES specify the McCarty 594 single cut….

There was another post here some time back about a similar issue. I don’t recall the resolution, but talking to PRS is certainly the first step. You shouldn’t have to force a case closed.

IIRC, the 594, due to the neck-body point to allow for the TOM-style bridge, does lay "flat" differently from the trem-equipped PRSi, such as the DGT and CE24. Being a thicker body doesn't help. Is your 594 a SC? I think that makes it even worse for fit.

I would hesitate to try to force the guitar into the case (or the case around the guitar).

If I remember, when I get a chance I'll go look at the cases for my DC and SC 594s (both cores), and compare to other PRS cases for non-594 cores.

@shinksma It's a 594 Singlecut. The case closes well around the neck/headstock portion of the guitar, however, it does not close well around the body (due to the larger shape).

Just sharing some photos for posterity. Not sure if this is good, or I am just supremely overthinking this situation lol. When you open the case, the body side sort of pops up due to tighter fit. Compared to my DGT / Multi-fit case, which doesn't move at all - it just lays flat when closed.

I called PRS support, and spoke to a nice lady. She basically stated that because the 594 is thicker, expect a tighter fit. She also confirmed that as a core model, it would have shipped with the same case (I bought my 594 used and it did not have a case). So I guess that is that!
