What do you all think of the Modern Eagle V Core? I played one and really like it. I noticed that the core’s do not have the 250k/500k switch and curious if the 250k versions really did much or if I would be missing that on this model?

It was pretty subtle change to the sound. If you were playing with any gain you’d never know the difference
Agree, could only appreciate the difference in clean settings with volume knobs at 8 or lower. That being said, I play that way much of the time, so I really liked the 250/500 switch and am glad I held onto 3 of them. Of course…more minitoggles is always better.

I just have the core version without the 250k/500k switch but it still sounds great! I do have the 250/599k option covered though as I have a swamp ash special that I had modified with 12 total tones. With the 3 way switch it is like a McCarty and then when you pull the push/pull it adds the single coil. It also has a “luminator” (madhatterguitarproducts.com) system that changes the humbuckers to single coil mode with the 250k pot.

It is a real subtle difference. I don’t think it should be a make/break on the purchase decision. I was also able to get a SSH and it’s worth a side by side comparison.

I remember Andertons posted a video of the ME dealers edition or something like that, and demonstrated the 250/500 k switch... I wasn't blown away the way it affects the tone ...

I just purchased a Modern Eagle. Sounds great, but the tuning stability is terrible. This is my first Core model, so I am disappointed. The tremolo is floating so I know that is likely an issue. It has not been set up, so hopefully that will resolve a lot of the issues. Anyone else experience tuning issues with the Modern Eagle?

I have not had tuning issues. I don’t play everyday and I am not a big dive bomber, though.

No tuning stability problems on any PRS guitars I have had. Make sure the string lock screws are tight, the strings are stretched, and work the trem a bit to break it in.
