Correct me if I'm wrong, but this model seems to be a tad overlooked? Obviously the neck is not Brazzy, but except for the most discerning Crackwood addicts, there really isn't a noticeable tonal difference with a IRW neck. YYMV

Also, these have the 57/08s, which most seem to think are better than the RP's. (Understand that some of the recent NOS 2007 MEI's have 57/08s). Again, YMMV.

And yet after looking around a little, these are about half the the price of an MEI! Is it just the collectible value of the BRW? I'm a little confused as to the difference in finish - I thought both were nitro, but there are indications that there is some difference? Plus there are those 25th MEII's which might be further distinguishable?

Thoughts?

I agree that these have been overlooked. They were only made for around a year and then the 25th's came out which are totally different even yet. There must be many fewer of these than other ME's since the 1's were a multiple year run. The differences as you mentioned were the RP's went to 5708's and the neck was IRW vs Braz. The finish was also nitro but gloss nitro. I believe these were the first as well to sport a paisley case. Great guitars that I believe to be a sleeper that people will want years from now like the ME1's. After that the ME runs were much larger, kept changing and really lost the same vibe in my opinion.

I am so glad I picked up this MEII ( Thanks MaPete )
As far as specs go it has Modern Eagle pickups in it according to the paperwork, it is a killer guitar IMHO for what they are selling for these days a great value also.
