So back in my younger days my Dad had a Boss DF-2 Super Feedbacker & Distortion effect pedal my brothers and I would use sometimes as kids. It wasn't super great but it did have the interesting feature of holding and sustaining a note or harmonic feedback. You'd play a note and press it down. If it was one clean note it would hold that endlessly while the pedal was pressed down. if you played a chord or multiple notes and did that it kind of had a mind of it's own. Lots of older folks here so I bet some of you may be familiar with it. Would be a feature I'd be interested in if there are modern options that are similar yet better. Wondering what those options may be. I could buy a pricey old used one off eBay or Reverb but I'm wondering if there is something new and modern that does the same thing but better. Let me know if you have any ideas for me. Picture of what it was below.

Digitech Freqout is still in production, I believe. It will create feedback. You probably need a separate distortion pedal to get distortion with it.

Or you can just crank the living sh!t out of your amp and blast away with natural tube distortion, which would be my preferred method! ;)

I'll ask my guitar buddy what he is using, he has a pedal that holds/feedbacks a clean note like you said and has some LED that climb up the pedal as the feedback sustains. Its a great tool!

aphantomvapor, I think you might be referring to the DigiTech FreqOut that Laszlo mentioned. You can see in the video below the climbing LED you mentioned as it sustains the feedback.

And I did some reading and watched some videos and it seems to me that the Digitech FreqOut would be the best one. A bit more advanced of an acquisition than buying one of the old Bosses used for significant $. It also has the most options and abilities it seems. However I can tell that some of its noise is not quite organic sounding enough to be better than what my hollowbody is naturally inclined to do through tubes. I feel it can be somewhat useful though.

Here's the DigiTech FreqOut demo video from Sweetwater. You can tell that some of it's modes are interesting enough while some others lack organic naturalness in sound.

Pulled the trigger. It's a lot of $ for me but hey maybe it adds to my guitar playing fun a little bit. If I was thinking of spending $150+ on that old used Boss thing then I might as well add a few more dollars and get the modern thing with more features. From the videos it seems like it will actually be like only 1/3rd of the controls on the thing I will use to stay away from the most artificial sounding noises the pedal makes.

I'll let y'all know how I like it when I jam on it a bit. Ok, have to eat the cheapest food for a while, nothing to freq out about. I'm alive and getting some feedback.
