MODCAT Decoders

Looks nice! The new HTML must've just gone into effect, because I was just checking a MODCAT recently and hadn't seen the new look yet.

Someone updated the HTML/CSS a bit so I'm bumping this thread:

https://dchandlerp.github.io/ModCatDecoder/

I'd be happy to update Modcat codes but I'm also trying to make sure the information is correct. So simply telling me that a code isn't there and that your color is X isn't always going to be enough.
Thanks for approving my PR, I was pretty surprised when I saw the mail, lol!

Thanks @Golem!

I appreciate all the folks that keep updating the decoder. It’s a great tool.

Hey, guys.

I just got a new PRS guitar.
The modcat is MXM2FABFBBT_YI_HL-L3.
What does the "MX" in the model name stand for?
The model of the guitar is a Modern Eagle Singlecut Trem.

Huh. Am I looking at the wrong sticker? Mine has a code that looks.....close to these, but the sticker itself is totally different, and the code doesn't quite translate...or has missing digits?

the MODCAT is not a publicly official format, it's the internal system PRS uses to track things in the production line, its subject to change at any second without consideration for backward compatibility with the reverse engineered decoding software.

The decoder works well for my 2018 594, but is off on most points for my new 2021 594 SC. I guess this aligns with the comment above that PRS will likely change over time. Pretty cool tool over all.

Very cool tool. With my 2022 Paul's Guitar, my MODCAT is PGM2FTHFNSS_B-BA.

It got everything but the color and hardware (and arguably the pickups). The color is the Black Gold Burst. The hardware is a combination of chrome and brass.

Same as above, the decoder doesn’t have some info pertinent to your guitar:

PRS MODCAT Decoder

Neck Carve:Pattern Thin (Wide Thin)
Fingerboard Wood:East Indian Rosewood
Inlay:Original Solid Birds (pre-2008)

You’ll have to fill those in until an updated decoder comes along. It might be off on several items if the code has syntax issues.
