Missing fretboard inlays

Hi there,

was there ever such thing as a PRS Standard without any fretboard inlays?

The attached pics show a guitar which is supposedly from 1987.

Any input will be appreciated... happy holidays!

Yeah, you could special order some stuff way back when. There were also random one-offs and employee guitars with non-standard appointments.

It also has wooden side markers instead of the metal ones they used to use.

Totally looks legit. I’d like to know what year looks like late 80’s early 90’s pretty sure I see small signature decal and possible Brazilian fretboard. Excellent looking

I'm skeptical. Those pics aren't very good. It's possible someone had the board replaced. I'd want to see it up close and also check for notes written inside the pickup cavities.

GREAT advice!! I was looking at this on my phone last night now I'm on my computer. Black Plaid mentioned side dots... They do seem different from the metal side dots they used in that era. I currently have 1990 and two 1991 and have own PRS from 1988 and 1989 and they had the metal side dots. Garret, what do you make of those side dots?

Doubtful... guitar is located in Germany!

Given the back of the headstock; it might be possible that the guitar had a refin as well? The back of the headstock looks less than perfect. Also: no written serial, but some sort of stamp?

The body and hardware looks legit.
