Anyone tried the 245 Soapbar? A while back I was asking the forum opinion on the Mira (thank you all, by the way) and it was a pretty positive response. I've decided it's about that time to move up, so I've started looking around, and a few of the 25th Mira Soapbars have caught my eye too. Don't think I can lose either way, but I've been loving the 245 scale, and wouldn't mind adding the soapbar sound to my arsenal. Just turning a couple of pieces of gear into cash and something should be happening soon. So, anyone got 2 cents for me?

Sorry I sold the one I had. If I find another at the right price, I'm snatching it up. I have a pickguard with a 3-way toggle to swap out for the blade.

The Mira is a great guitar in either scale length, honestly. I have always liked PRS Soapies. I don't see how you can go wrong, but if you like the shorter scale length, I'd go for that.

I'd recommend playing one, if you can. I prefer longer scale guitars (25 and up), in general. I felt it made a big enough difference to bug me. A local store had one of the 25th Annies at a great price, but I just didn't bond like I do with my standard Mira.

That said, I DO like the pickups!

The Mira and the Mira 245 are surprisingly different instruments despite the similarities in body shape and neck carve... the scale length and pup difference is a big thing, obviously. I don't love the PRS soapbar pickups (I heard that they are actually Seymour Duncan OEM) - but they're not the worst in the universe. I'm probably going to put a set of Lollars in mine at some point.

Basically if you've always wanted a Les Paul Jr doublecut the Mira 245 is the PRS version of that - with all the superior fit & finish that goes with it.

As the Mira 245 was a limited edition in 2010/11 so you may not have the pick of the litter, but they're a simple guitar, there's not a lot that can be "wrong" with 'em, and there are probably good deals to be had both new and secondhand.

They are both great guitars. I've owned neither but have played both. I'm perfectly comfortable on both scale necks. I would say go for the 24.5" soapie first if you think a soapie should be in your arsenal. There are a lot less of them on the market. A standard Mira will be much easier to find down the line with more color options available at any given time. If you see a soapie you like the looks of, might just wanna snag it, most places have a return policy giving you a little time.

Personally I prefer the Soapbar, I like the 22 frets over the 24. And soapbars rock.
