Howdy Guys and Gals,

I have a set of Mira pickups and I am trying to figure out the best way to wire them for the coil split.

The pickups have three conductors, a shield over a black wire and a white wire. It appears that the full Humbucker mode is the shield and the white wire active

and the split is the shield and the black wire.. here is a photo of one of the pickups. Can someone please shed a little light on the subject for me?? Thanks

So all in all I'll have a single volume, single tone, 3 way switch for the pickup selector and the mini switch to cut to single coil.

So white and shield gets me the screw coil? Thanks
You want to leave the black and shield always connected, then connect white to ground when you want to split, via switch of your choice. You can add a resistor too if you want to keep a little of the unused coil. (I did on my sc245)

Awesome, I would never have never figured that one. So, switching the white wire to on position cuts the coils in half.. do you know if it is the screw side (north) of the pickup?

Not sure which side sorry, but I followed this diagram:

The white wire is both the start of one coil and the end of the other. By going to ground you are basically just shorting that side out. That's why adding the resistor keeps a little in.

You have a tap, not a split. The difference being that you can't wire the two halves out of phase with each other. In order to actually split the coils, the pup will have at least 4 conductors. Otherwise, you can still tap your pup the same way, with a switch to short out, or partially short out part of the coil.

I understand. Thanks to everyone.
