Tomorrow is bank holiday here in Spain so I decided to do some cleaning and tidying up. I was opening some boxes with old stuff and just found this:
and so many good memories came to my mind! Before all the digital stuff, cubases, guitar pros and whatnot...this was all I had as young lad trying to learn guitar by imitating my heroes. When studying for my business exams, there was always one of this books behind my textbooks or classroom notes. Cannot tell how many hours I spent crawling through those pages, trying to decipher some of the strange symbols when there was no internet available.
As a funny coming of age story: there was this guitar shop with a tabbook section, and I saw the Passion and Warfare one (a big, thick beautiful tab book if I ever saw one). I was around 18 I could not afford it so I made a very bad decision: I stole it. I kept the book for several days at home but I felt terribly ashamed for what I had done, so I brought the book back to the store. This time around the owner was vigilant and caught me when I was putting it back on the shelf. Long story short, we found a way for me to pay for my sin: I would work for that guitar store friday evenings and saturday mornings, and what a great "punishment" it was!
