So I log in today and I happen to catch a glimpse of the total of members/guests online at that time.
I see 145 total.
17 members
128 guests

So then I'm left wondering, how many do you think are?
1) bots?
2) members cruising not logged in?
3) actual guests?

I only spy for the aliens. They're looking for clues on tone factors to consider when reverse-engineering PRS Guitars.

They finally gave up on modeling our tube amps. Even with their sophisticated methods that are eons beyond what we know, they discovered it can't be done. However, I've hipped them to NOS tubes.

They're buying NOS tubes like candy. That's why NOS tube prices are so high.

They're also trying to reverse-engineer the Klon. So far they're only close. They think they've unlocked the secrets of the '59 Burst. I've tried to tell them that the original '59 Bursts weren't weight-relieved, but they kind of get confused by our concept of time, and keep looking at the newer stuff.

Gibson and Fender, hard to say.

But ya never know. Ya know?

So that's where the NOS tubes are going. I just thought it was you buying them up and keeping them all to yourself.

Mostly bots.
A few live guests that arrived via a search.
So maybe in the neighborhood of 100 bots? That's more than I would have guessed.

I fall into the second group, at work I can view, but if I log in they'll think I'm posting and that's not work-related or something like that.
That's what I used to do when I was at work

That's very interesting. I logged in yesterday evening and there were a similar amount, but 98 members, and 40 ish guests. I saw a whole list of names I'd never heard of before... guys who must never or hardly ever post. I read off like 20 in a row that I'd never heard of.

1) numerous, I'd guess. Many can't pass the initial test designed to catch them.
2) there's really not a lot or viewing one can do without logging in.
3) more than one might expect, the same way the Swedish chef tries to tell you you can't eat just one cupcake.
4) See your dentist. All the holiday sweets and treats you've been snacking on left untreated will cause pitted teeth.

Most of the IT staff looking for "suspicious" or "non work-related" activity will just crawl through your accessed URLs log. So unless they really put some effort on it, there will not be much difference between being or not being logged in, and more so given how this website deals with HTML forms. They will just notice you are spending time on this board.

Unhollow words. That is not necessary, because PRS fanboys, -girls, and anybody beyond binary rules addressed Paul in the past and nowadays to introduce guitar models in PRS quality that have their origin in Kalamazoo/Nashville (594 SC) or Fullerton/Corona (ST- and T-style PRSi).

The market makes the rules. And from an economic point of view, it's logical. Why spending resources, when the customers seek by statistics for certain designs.
A friend of mine is Head of the Custom Shop Division of a really big player. By sales 9 of 10 instruments are Gibson and Fender made (50:50 Strat/Tele:LP/SG/ES).
And one comes from one of the large number of other brands with premium priced instruments likewise PRS, EBMM, Duesenberg, .strandberg*, Mayones etc.
Why are so many "copy cat" brands around, which produce "interpretations" from the iconic Tele, Strat, LP from budget to high-end? Harley Benton, Haar, Nacho, Maybach, etc., and the uncountable number of luthiers. Customer related business operation help to survive.

Q. If a member of PRS staff logs into the forum on work time, is that classed as “work related”?

Actually, I am the IT staff (at least on the server side of things). But my office is right next to the CIO's, so peeking during lunch is one thing, posting while she walks by is another story.
