MDT Gig Settings with Signature Limited

There were a few threads here about the MDT and HX/DA where settings were asked for. The fake snow day yesterday found me noodling around at home and used the opportunity to dust off the Signature Limited and put it through the MDT.

The MDT is set up about how I'd set it when playing out with it. For the stuff we do, the MDT is set to go from clean to crunch at decent gig volume, and I use an OCD if I want more gain. If your're playing heavy material, celarly you'd set it up differntly. I tend not to pay much attention to the actual settings on the amp, but just sort of unconciously tweak 'till it's what I want. I was surprised at how close to noon everything was. Also, I tend to set things on the bright side when gigging more so than when just playing alone, which might not be to everybody's taste. Just find that it works better that way with another guitarist in the mix.

As a side note, I think that this is an example of how the Signature Limited single coil tone shines through more so when the volume on the guitar is rolled back. Everything here is with the guitar set between 4 and 7 on the volume. Tone was dimed on the guitar. Anyway, here's a pic of the setting and a clip of my random sloppy noodling...

This is really interesting; except for the setting of the presence control (I set mine a little bit lower) you set your MDT up exactly like I set up my HX/DA (given that some of the controls are different).

Not only that, but your clean tones with the Sig Ltd sound like the ones I dial in with my Sig Ltd on the HX/DA. Even the single coil gritty sounds on your demo sound an awful lot like mine.

If you came to my studio to play, you'd say "Yeah, I'm ready to go" with only my settings. LOL!

I'm remarking on it because it's kind of unusual to find folks online who share my preferences. I'd also like to say that you were able to nicely capture the distinction between the single coil and humbucker settings on the guitar.

Yes. And I'm also noticing the same thing with other PRS amp models. People are gravitating toward a more neutral tone setting. Start in the middle and tweak to taste.

That probably means that the designer chose a good "home base" relative to our tastes at least, maximizing the range of tones that we'd want to work over. Both are outstanding amps.

You better watch out Les. I'm liable to show up on your front door step some time with talk like that!

You're not helping my GAS.... I really like the sound of that rig. :D

Thanks for doing that! :)
Oh and we have similar taste in music judging by the riffs you chose. ;)

You'd be most welcome any time!
