Ok.

I've been trying to find a review or a video from anyone that has had their hands on both the McCarty SC 594 and Tremonti Signature. I am mainly interested in the thickness differences of the body and neck. I appears that the 594 has a thicker body and neck, and therefore, may weigh more. Are my observations incorrect?

The body should be close enough and the weight will depend on the guitar. My Tremonti was heavier then my current sc245.

The real difference will be the neck. Thin necks cause my hands to cramp so I had to sell my beloved Tremonti. The 594 neck is a beefer neck and it is perfect. There is also the scale length. The Tremonit may sound better with lower tunings because of the longer scale. 594 will tend to be more vintage but I play anything with my 594s including metal and I am perfectly happy with them.

May be heavier, but may not. Varies instrument to instrument. Yes, the 594 body is thicker. The 594 pattern vintage is noticeably thicker than the pattern thin of the Tremonti signature. It is not baseball bat thick, and the pattern thin is not Ibanez thin. But it is a noticeable difference.

Now I am wondering if I should order a custom single cut to my specs. I wouldn't mind having a thicker body with a pattern thin neck finished with a 25" scale. Thank you for the responses, gentlemen.

PS is obviously in a different league, pricewise, but you would not be disappointed. You could then also customize any other feature that you choose. Good luck to you, and keep us updated!

You pretty much just described a Tremonti. If you like going up to a 25.5", the new Tremonti barritones just hit the market in a limited run.

I want the Baritone SO BAD. A 25.5" hardtail Tremonti? What's not to like?

Honestly, the only thing keeping me from dumping $4K-$5K on the guitar is that fact that it's a signature guitar. I am still trying to wrap my head around it. Don't get me wrong though, the current finishes are gorgeous.

I'm curious why the fact that it is a signature has any bearing for you.

As a compromise, send the guitar to me. Problem solved
Yes. I know that is a common thing, but I'm not really sure I understand it. Maybe if it was a signature artist that you didn't like I could understand. But otherwise, color me confused as well.

Resell. I am known for reselling items as often as I change my underwear. If I don't like the Tremonti, I wonder if it will be difficult to sell.

Hey, Papagallos
I currently have both guitars, the body thickness and the neck differences seem almost unnoticeable to me.
It only slightly registers that the tremonti neck is slightly thinner only when someone mentions it.
My tremonti is weighing in at 9.0 lbs I believe some of that mass may actually be the tremolo system.
My 594 is weighing in at 8 pounds and 3 ounces.
I actually just broke out the calipers and measured the body thickness both guitars At the neck joint.
Tremonti 1.87 inches, 594; 1.93 inches. Nearly identical.

I really think you have to consider what kind of tones you're after. Way more important than the differences of playability or feel between these 2 guitars. They're actually very different animals Tone wise.
1. Tremolo or no tremolo
2. The tremonti pickups searingly hot. I swapped out about 13 pickups and settled on the pearly gates in the tremonti. Love it now. It's basically a Les Paul with the tremolo, But better.
3. 594's very vintage. The best neck pickup I've ever played (58/15LT) especially with its split coil setting versatility,I don't seem to need my Stratocaster anymore. It's hilarious to me singlecut neck pickup replaces a Stratocaster.
4. The 594 bridge pickup requires some healthy boost pedals or high gain to get into that heavy rock territory or pick up swap (85/15).
I actually really enjoy the Leveled jumbo frets on the 594.
I Sent my tremonti back in to PRS and had it refretted with jumbos for my own personal style.
Good luck trying to figure all that out. Or do what I did buy them both.

That is what I was looking for.

And I agree about the tone. I want to play few a songs in Drop D, and think the 594 should handle them well. My heart is set on playing Blues the greatest majority of the time though.

Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts.

Excellent, you will thoroughly enjoy the SC594, for blues, & medium to hi gain rock 'n roll, The in between setting with both pickups, provides a tonal palette that is simply incredible. Splitting one coil leaving the other humbucker. Rolling off the volume knobs ever so slightly on one pickup changes the character impressively. Very fun, there's even telecaster honk available in there. You'll probably want to go up a little in string gauge on the low E to do a drop D tuning. PRS delivers on their promise, when you buy a PRS guitar It usually exceeds your expectations. I usually throw a 49 gauge on the low E on all my guitars but leave the rest stock 10's.
