Is it just me or on the newer McCartys 594 that PUP switch on the top horn kind of gets in the way? Maybe I am just used to them being down near volume controls etc (and NOT a Gibson guy), but it does seem that it would get in the way some.

I have an older one that has it by the volume etc. Seems like the right place for it.

One of the reasons I prefer the traditional McCarty. I like the switch location behind the bridge and by the tone control.

Same position, basically, as a Les Paul. I’ve heard it said that puts it in the normal arc of your forearm/hand while playing, which seems plausible. Really, it’s just something to get used to if you have one. I don’t personally find using it to be any challenge at all, and never hit it while playing, which I have on some below the bridge area (both volume knobs and switches).

Fortunately, there are lots of options if it’s bothersome.

For me the Strat/silversky style switching is the worst. I can never seem to keep it in position 4 or 5. I’m always knocking it back 1-3 when I strum.

Be glad it is just annoying to you. I flipped the switch about two weeks ago and the whole thing broke right off. I couldn’t believe it. I am extremely gentle with my guitars. I was shocked.
I took to where I bought it to get repaired. I was offended by him. He hadn’t clue that it was a decent guitar and fairly expensive as well. He said what is this guitar worth? He started at $100.
Obviously not the right guy for the job. I asked him about some strings and he had no clue and he works in a music shop?
