McCarty pickups

I have a 2007 McCarty in transit to me. I’ve read on old board posts both that the pickups are potted and that they are unpotted! Does anyone know which is true? Also, what should I expect pickup wise? Why did PRS drop these pickups?

For McCarty pickups I don’t think it’s dropped them as much as evolution. They are good pickups.

Once the 57/08 and 59/09 pickups became popular many of the older pickups were dropped. McCartys are good pickups, however I didn’t care for them in my Swamp Ash Special. They were in the lineup for a very long time and are loved by many.

Sounds like they will be decent pickups. I’ve played 57/08s and I thought they were good, but not great.
