Would love your thoughts on the comparison/contrast of the McCarty 594 vs ME-V. I am a DeadHead who enjoys playing Dead, Blues, Allman Bros, Dylan, etc.... I have a Core NF3, but I don't know how to compare these two guitars. My local guitar shop has a ME-V, but not a 594, so I cant compare them on my own. In addition to my NF3, I have SG Special and a CS 336 (smaller than a 335) and a strat. Looking to expand the tone universe.... Thoughts/advice are greatly appreciated.

I’ve not played a ME V, but speaking generally about PRS with a trem vs the 2 piece stoptail, scale length difference, etc., I’d expect the 594 to be fatter sounding, perhaps with a thicker midrange, too. More round note attack. If you already have an NF3, the 594 would be my pick to give you the most contrast.

I can tell you the MEV is a great guitar , still in the honeymoon phase but it 100% lives up to the Modern Eagle label .
I haven't found a 594 that works for me , that neck is to much , I've only play 2 and they sound great but haven't fallen for one yet

What about the neck of 594 is “too much”? Do you think the MEV fits in my tone stack given the others?

The Pattern Vintage neck is the biggest and fattest neck PRS makes think Gibson 58 neck , I am more of a Gibson 59 or Fender U Neck fan, also not usually a 58/15LT fan except the one in my Studio 22.
I also have a Core NF3 ( maple neck tho ) the MEV is just more in comparison the full humbuckers are hotter ( louder ) and a taste fuller the single coil is a single coil so it sounds like a single coil. The MEV on about 7 sounds similar to the NF3 with a bit extra bottom.
The NF3 is stunning sounding , the MEV is stunning sounding in a wider pallet of sounds , has more push as a full humbucker guitar and has a true single coil , the taps sound great also but do have a volume drop unlike the 408 and the last trick the MEV has is like the Fiore you can get neck and bridge together ( or all 3 pickups )
The 594 is a great LP style guitar and does all that stuff at a super high level , The MEV is a Pauls Guitar with an extra gear/ few extra bells and whistles that makes me like it more that any of the Pauls guitars I have played.

I Will Go Off Track Here And Suggest A Singlecut Of Some Sort To Fill In The Holes Of What You Have Currently. I Would Consider The Tremonti Or A Used Original Singlecut With A Fixed Bridge If You Dislike Them With Trems. Another Cool Choice Would Be A Santana.

Out Of The Two You Mentioned I Think You Will Get More Versatility Out Of The ME 5 But I Also Feel It Will Sonically Be Similar In Some Ways To What You Already Have. I Could See A Different Type Of Guitar Altogether Filling A Few Voids...A Nik Huber Krautster Comes To Mind With The Humbucker In The Bridge And A P90 In The Neck.
