I have a new McCarty 594 SE, and there are some issues with the volume pots that I’m trying to figure out if they are normal or not on this model. With the volume on 10, the pickups sound great. But at 10, they are quite hot and breaking up the amp. Sounds great if this is the sound you want. If I turn it to 9 or 8, it instantly cleans up but sounds lifeless and loses much of the soul and zing that sounded so good at 10. I think this might be common with the 594, and that a treble bleed circuit might correct it (which I don’t think it has?)?
The other issue is the volume seems to cut out around 7. The sound is so low going into my amp or recording software that it can’t even register it. I can use a pro-boost or boost pedal to get it back up, but it doesn’t seem like it should be cutting out at 6 & 7 on the knobs like this. Not sure if this is typical with the McCarty or indicative of bad pots? But the way it is, there is a massive difference between 10 and 8, and then nothing, so it makes it difficult to use the volume to clean up the tone.
