A bit more time on my hands with the holiday break, so I started monkeying with gear.
Brought out the McCarty 25th Anniversary and plugged it into a Mesa Roadster head through a PRS 2x12.
Not sure if it's just me, but the NF3 seems to cover more ground than humbuckers or single coils...or even P90s. I don't think that they are as flexible tone-wise in an NF3 body though (and that probably IS just me...) Clearly you can get the same sort of coverage with split-able pickups, but still, there is something unique about NF3s in a McCarty body.
Anyway, clip below. Guitar straight into amp. Metal tones would have been enhanced with a clean boost I think, but I didn't have one handy (meaning I was too lazy to go upstairs and get my pedal board...)and I don't really know how to spell metal much less play it in any case. Randomly cycling through the various channels on the Roadster. Man, that thing has lots of knobs and buttons.
