May GOM Announced

Cool, but I don't get it. Why do a "lesser" version of the 513?
Specially because the lower output bucket tone of the 513 is one of its coolest features!

It's voiced differently than a 513. Neck single is voiced for Strat. Bridge single is voiced for Tele.

If you remember, the 305 started out as a lesser version of the 513. All I know is that many players are put off by the complexity of the 513. This might be more attractive, and it adds another Strat-like guitar to the stable.

I dig the new switching options. Not my cup-o-tea as an instrument so you needn't worry about me scooping up 1 of the 10.:p

By the pickup construction the 509 (513) pups won't sound like 408s. Two SCs vs. one HB.
I'm very glad, that a 513 was role model of the current GOM. And - besides small wooden impact on sound - a ordinary 513 would deliver comparable sound like the 509. Therefore it could push forward sellings. On the other hand side, the reduced tonal variety (no P90-like sound) is maybe the consequence of asking 513 owners, which switching positions they use most. And I guess they'll state SC and HH. Anyways. I wish all owners of a 509 very satistying moments with their PRS babes. I have my 513. Okay, little, but only very little jealous, that my 513 don't features a Gen III vibrato.

Hey Martin, I was wondering about the 2 and 4 positions because in the 513 they are configured out of phase
and for this to work on this model with the mini switches the polarity of the middle SC should be reversed right?
but it would be nice to have the wiring of the 408 and with an additional mini switch you can an out of phase option
or that could be achieved by a push-pull tone pot? I don't know im no electronics expert anyway :confused:

Haha, me, too.
However. I know for sure that the pair of SCs on treble position is generally turned around 180°. This lead to the fact that the active coil in SC modus is the bass sided one.

On behalf of all owners of 509's, I thank you. I feel privileged to have been offered the opportunity to be a part of this evolution of the 513 even though it's costing me a pretty penny.

I have heard that their release is eminent. It was supposed to be today, but now I am told before the end of the month. Apparently, the initial announcement was delayed by the pick ups. They weren't satisfied on the first go, so they rewound them. We'll see what is what when it gets here, and hopefully, I'll be able to answer all your questions.

Oh yeah! NICE!

@Dancing Frog,
Amazing, that you could give (at all costs) one of those 509s a warm home. HUGE CONGRATS! I'm curious about your impressions and results of comparisions within your own stock, and personal pics of your 509!
