HOLD EVERYTHING! Unfortunately, what I thought was a done deal is on hold, indefinitely. The dealer made a mistake measuring the weight, by over 2 lbs! Even after I asked him twice to double check the weight.
So, actually NOW I NEED YOUR HELP on this dilemma. To get a little personal (and maybe this should be moved to a different thread?) I have health issues that really affect my back, so weight has become a big consideration when I buy guitars. E.g., I was thrilled to get a SC594 at 8.5lbs.
So, when I found out this Korina 509, which is Custom thickness, was actually 8.4 lbs, I was really disappointed and honestly, taken aback. Most Custom body based guitars are usually around 7.5 (+/- .3), especially a WL, and even moreso, I would think, with a Korina body! I thought Korina was supposed to be light?!
Anyways, I was wondering if my impressions of typical Custom body weights are off? And Korina? Do people routinely have Customs around 8.5? I just know, while I love my SC594, however there's a limit to how long I can shoulder that sucker. OTOH my Custom-based guitars, just feel like part of my body, and I can go a couple hours easily. And this 509 is about the same weight as my SC594, but in a Custom sized body! Thats seems insane, imho!
Of course, I know people's preferences on weight are subjective - but I find this shocking. Would the shape of a Custom (509) vs a SC594 make a difference (like in weight distribution, maybe it's the neck?), or I suppose weight just weight.
But please educate me on your typical ideas of Customs' weights, and if you've seen PRS Korina so heavy - my impression was the exact opposite.
In exchange, I'll finally post a pic of the full guitar
Thanks for any insight, guys.
