That Indonesian dealer has a mighty fine collection of PRS for sale. I would love to get my mitts on several of them! Congrats on you imminent arrival!

Yup, you guys cracked the code! Thanks for playing along with my silly game - the words of the WL 509 were spelled out in the capital letters, except for topic the title, which was misleading cause it spelled Modern Eagle V....if that wasn't obvious by now ;)

I just thought it striking how similar it looked to the Modern Eagle V demo guitar (and the 509 is close in spirit to the MEV), so I was seeing if I could have some fun with you guys! I don't have ME coin! I wish some of those features would fliter down into a Core model - especially being able to push/pull the tone knob to have all 3 pickups going - a la Brian May or something.

Do you think that would be a difficult mod to a 509 at some point? Adding a push-pull is easy enough, but I have no idea how the 509/408/24-08 electronics are wired.

HOLD EVERYTHING! Unfortunately, what I thought was a done deal is on hold, indefinitely. The dealer made a mistake measuring the weight, by over 2 lbs! Even after I asked him twice to double check the weight.

So, actually NOW I NEED YOUR HELP on this dilemma. To get a little personal (and maybe this should be moved to a different thread?) I have health issues that really affect my back, so weight has become a big consideration when I buy guitars. E.g., I was thrilled to get a SC594 at 8.5lbs.

So, when I found out this Korina 509, which is Custom thickness, was actually 8.4 lbs, I was really disappointed and honestly, taken aback. Most Custom body based guitars are usually around 7.5 (+/- .3), especially a WL, and even moreso, I would think, with a Korina body! I thought Korina was supposed to be light?!

Anyways, I was wondering if my impressions of typical Custom body weights are off? And Korina? Do people routinely have Customs around 8.5? I just know, while I love my SC594, however there's a limit to how long I can shoulder that sucker. OTOH my Custom-based guitars, just feel like part of my body, and I can go a couple hours easily. And this 509 is about the same weight as my SC594, but in a Custom sized body! Thats seems insane, imho!

Of course, I know people's preferences on weight are subjective - but I find this shocking. Would the shape of a Custom (509) vs a SC594 make a difference (like in weight distribution, maybe it's the neck?), or I suppose weight just weight.

But please educate me on your typical ideas of Customs' weights, and if you've seen PRS Korina so heavy - my impression was the exact opposite.

In exchange, I'll finally post a pic of the full guitar ;) Thanks for any insight, guys.

8.5 is about the heaviest you'll see for that body shape.

Limba isn't necessarily light. It has variation like any other wood.

Bummer on this one, but keep looking and I'm sure you can find mid-7's.

I also do not think the 509 are Custom thickness, but Mc Carty...

Maybe consider a Special 22 Semi hollow?
