SE CU24 have ‘Beveled Maple with Flame Maple Veneer’ while the 35th anniversary as well as SE Paul’s guitar has ‘Carved Maple with Flame Maple Veneer’. Is there a difference? As for the quality/flaming of it, is the 35th anniversary superior in anyway?

Would appreciate it if someone breaks down what beveled with veneer and carved with veneer means. Thank you

The carved tops have a more curvy look and feel, as if they were carved with hand tools. The beveled tops are just that, a flat sloping bevel from the outer edge towards the center around the perimeter of the body.. The S2 tops are a beveled top. The core and PS tops are carved.

got it thanks. Comparing the SE 35th and the [core?] 35th the SE 35th don’t seem ‘carved’ at all, but maybe it’s just the angle.

Do you know about the flaming?

The veneer varies from guitar to guitar. I don’t think there is “better”. Remember, the look of the top is very personal. Some people want uniformity, and some like variety in the figure. That has nothing to do with sound, it’s all just a paper thin veneer. That being said, better is all relative. Do you only need three or 4 basic sounds? Do you want as much tonal variation as possible? The goal is always to find the guitar (or guitars) that speak to you and inspire you. You can’t tell that by looking at them, Unless you’re looking for wall art.

When JH and the other guy were reviewing the latest SE line they referred to the SE Paul's Guitar as having a Violin carve.

Yes, that particular SE model has a Violin Carve. Its hard to describe other than the top is carved like a violin is carved. To look at in cross section the carve would look similar to a ski slope.

Excuse my poor drawings but the top would be bevelled and bottom is carved, is that right?
