I have read that some guys can't tell a difference going to mann trem. It has me wondering what exactly caused the improvement on my cu24 with mann trem?

Could it be that the plating was bad on old saddles causing tone loss? Does this happen? With what I noticed I can't imagine not hearing a difference.

Just wondering.

Bad plating can happen or it can be something the user has done to cause it.

On my stock SE bridge the plating had 'bubbled' on the underside and was starting to flake. This is why I've ordered the Mann bridge funnily enough. Well, that and I want to get rid of the forward lean!!!

The plating is still fine on the top where it really counts, but...

If it's losing it's adhesion then yes, I could see how it would effect tone.

However, even though some may not notice an improvement, others, such as yourself, may. Of course, it also depends what you mean by improvement. More sustain, more resonant, etc...

Could also be different grades of material... I don't know enough about the trems to speculate any more on that.

But your first point is certainly that it's possible but I wonder if you'd notice other issues? Visibly bad plating? Dead sounding notes, etc...

I've ended up changing the bridge on several SE`s and have tried the substiutes. Currently, most of them have the Schroeder locking studs & Bridge. I have noticed that dog notes usually disappear, and I think there is more clarity to each note with just the bridge change. The biggest difference is above the high E on the E string. I can only get that singing tone after the bridge change. The exception is a core Mira. For some reason, the bridge on that has tone for days and none of the problems with the SE bridges. I've wondered about the composition. I know that they`re supposedly aluminum, but I wonder if it`s an alloy, as opposed to the USA bridge. I put a USA trem on my Tremonti SE Custom, and noticed an immediate improvement in the tone on that guitar. Same guess on my part. Any thoughts?

Did you use the Schroeder studs with the stock SE bushings? I really like the design of the Schroeder studs but they're quite loose in the stock bushings so it still leans.

I guess I was waiting for somebody to say they got same results with just new saddles.

I hear and feel a difference with the MannMade/MilCom trems. Some of it might be psychological in nature, but I feel it!

Oh hell yes. I feel a difference too. I could tell with it unplugged.

We gig tomorrow night so it's round two. But really, I see one and maybe two more mann trems in my future.
