What happened to all the activity that transpired at Birds & Moons? I thought it would migrate here, but does not seem the case. :-(

The BaM community is fractured - but growing, changing, and even healing. Give it time.

Pretty sure that this is the Official PRS Forum, and not the B&M Forum, though from what I've heard a lot of people form B&M migrated over here, as well as some great people form the PRS Forums.

To each his or her own... I thinks it's plenty lively here myself. I've either visited or been a part of more forums than I can remember, but I like this one far more than any other. More polite, more mature, less sniping and snapping, less 'look what I have and you don't'... A bit of something for just about everybody here, at least IMO.

Start a thread worth replying to! Be a leader!

(I didn't open my laptop once over the holiday weekend)

I highly prefer the conversations here as opposed to most other sites, for all the reasons Goldtop mentioned....plus the fact that we get to see the PTC's killer skills quite often

Gibson forum is usually very busy but let me clear this up....
play
Gibson forum....more talk, less play
Prs forum....more play, less talk...

I migrated here from the Gibson forum. Kinda like this place a little more. How many places can you get schematics on a Sunday night from a member of the Ptc? Not many employees work on weekends, let alone do work related things on their own time.

I was never on BaM... so, my frame of reference cannot be to that - only to other forums (both guitar/music and others).

There are plenty of forums which offer a faster pace, but that has its own problems. unless you are signed on 24/7 and refresh every hour (or sooner), you are going to miss stuff. I don't like missing things which might interest me, but I also don't want to have to camp out just to stay in the loop.

While others might yearn for 'critical mass', I find that just following even 3 or 4 threads is enough as far as the time I am able to invest. I do read almost everything here, but some discussions are more interesting than others - we all have our preferences.

If it ever got to the point where I was actively following or felt the need to comment in many, many threads, then I'm sure that my personal and professional life would suffer.

I just spent a week away from any computers and I can see that even in this supposedly dead forum I may be reading for a few days to catch up.

Perhaps the solution for those who are bored is to participate in other forums as well...

Your mileage may vary, no preservatives added, not for the other use.

OR take the time to generate some content.

What would this place be like if 10 guys took the time to put the energy into it that I do? How about 20? How about half of the frequent visitors?

Don't hold your breath - that is not how clubs generally work - and this forum functions very much like a club. Remember the axiom that 10% of the members do 90% of the work (participation).

Some stats.

Only 52 of the 1582 members have 100 posts or more.

Only 241 have more than 10 posts.

Only 826 have even one post.

Even the OP has only 52 posts - and he was here months before I joined....

I feel that our common medium here is PRSi, which also happen to be quite pricey on average (still a steal bang for the buck wise though) and I know that wading into this forum as someone who does not have 10+ PRSi can be pretty intimidating for some, as it was for me....its almost as if I was expecting a much stuffier and reserved response from some of the big hitters here, but I was totally wrong gladly :) I say to the folks with 1 post and just here to see the awesome guitars and amps, even if you dont own one, chime in man! Everyone has something to say on the interwebz, lets not prove that stereotype wrong now lol.

Ok, I agree with your assessment. It is human nature. So let's apply that logic. What happens if those 52 guys post one new thread a day? Hell, what if they only post even one new thread a week? 52 people making a concerted effort would surely get some much-needed momentum.

Do you think we can get 52 guys to make the commitment to post at least one new thread per week?

Hmmmm... that gives me an idea.
