Made some changes to my Silver Sky SE...

Good choice on the ivory buttons, looks far better than the stock grey ones. I’m thinking about purchasing a second SS but in Overland Gray. The body color and tuning heads, truss cover look really good together on this color of guitar. Plus, the flying birds are grey as well. But, one could always paint the buttons.

I didn't know the SE came with a maple fingerboard.

I really like the neck and fingerboard profile of the SE Silver Sky. It's a little flatter and easier for me to bend strings on than the Core models I've played.

Seems like the Core SS has more of a early 60's feel to the neck and fingerboard and I've always felt those old Fenders were hard to play. Smaller frets, smaller radius to the fingerboard than what I prefer.

I also prefer the two stud mount of the SE vibrato to the six screw mount of the Core model.

However, I do like the pickups in the Core model better so I changed the pickups in that green SE to Chubtone 61's. Kind of similar.

Yeah, the maple fingerboards came out just recently and they’re just getting them in stock in stores and online. Here’s the three color options they offer in maple. I already own one in Nylon Blue but wish I would have gotten the Overland Gray instead. I like both colors equally but started thinking the Overland Gray would look good with black pickup covers and control knobs. I’m hoping that more colors of pickguards and knobs will start being made by third parties. There are already a few different SE SS pickguards available online.

Those body colors just seem so drab…..Is it just me? I do love the SS guitars over any other brand…. I guess I’m used to those old DuPont car colors that Leo used to use. Especially Seafoam Green & Shoreline Gold !

They kind of reflect the car colors of today which look like they have some dull clay mixed into the color.

Sort of retro but almost 40's retro.
