hello guys int bee a while since the past forum! well i want tu upgrade the tuner of my guitar and by mistake a bought a runner for a les paul gibson and well the do not fit so searching in the web i found this gotoh tunners http://www.g-gotoh.com/international/?btp_product=sd90-mg-t are this the right ones?
o what tunner did you buy to upgrade your ZM guitar? without doing any drilling

hope you can help me out

I use US made Hipshot open back tuners With the UMP Mounting plates. The weight is right for good balance, and they're very accurate. No holes, no fuss, no muss, and about a half an hour to put on. The grovers are made in Taiwan or China. I called Grover it find out.

Those should work just fine. I have some SD90 tuners, but they must be the older variation. Mine are self locking with no wheel on the back.

I used the Grover 406c's on my SECU24 (and they're on an SE Singlecut that I got on that auction site). They use the exact same holes as the stock SE tuners. The tuner buttons are on the small side tho, if that bugs you.

I believe that the Gotoh SD90's are direct replacements for your guitar without any drilling or modification. I have not installed these, though I do have a ZM, also. However, I remember looking into this very question on this forum and I bookmarked these tuners on eBay as a result of that research.

I had some Gotoh's on mine, for a few years, I did not like them.
Had the dealer switch them over to the D'addario/Planet Waves Autotrim lockers like I use on most of my other guitars.
Of course the latter required new screw holes.

I have TonePro Klusen upgrades on my SC245, which are drop-ins as well, and they hold in tune really well. I played 4 services at a local church this weekend and every time i checked my tuning it was spot on.

I put Grover 406Cs on my Santana SE - direct, drop-in fit.

Some guys don't like the look of the Grover buttons, but that's not a problem either. You can just swap the buttons from the stock PRS tuners. The fit perfectly on the Grovers.

You can also buy Planet Waves buttons that will fit the Grovers as well. I have an Epiphone Les Paul with Grover 406Cs - put Planet Waves green plastic buttons on that one, much like the ones that come on a Bernie.

The locking mechanism on the Grovers is excellent.

thanks so much to all of you for your advices ill go for the SD90 tunners so i won't have to do nay mod to my guitar which is an amazing guitar :D

well im going to take an advantage here...im thinking to chance also the nut is the graph tech brand a good one, to replace the nut of my ZM guitar?

well i just got my SD 90 mg GOTOH tunners and it doesn't fit at all even when i got the vintage one, am i missing something or doing something wrong? i try to install them but after put all the screws they feel like they are dancing in the head stock, :(

Did you replace the factory bushings with the new ones that came with the tuners? The factory tuners are a touch larger diameter and so the Gotohs will be a loose fit in the factory bushings.

Did you buy Gotoh part number SD90-MG-SL-N like these? http://www.philadelphialuthiertools...king-kluson-style-3-x-3-guitar-tuners-nickel/
