Hi guys looking for some advice. I'm looking to try and get a bluesy single coil sound similar to a silver sky however I can't get on with the 25.5 scale length. I currently have a 513 which I love but it doesn't quite give me the sound I'm looking for even after it's 519 mod. I'm also after a maple neck.

I'm looking at a sas narrow field at the moment as it's meant to be very much like a single coil especially in the neck position but I've also thought about the dc3. I know the dc3 uses the 513 pickups so is it any different in terms of sound?

Sorry lots of questions but both don't come up very often in the UK so it's not so easy to go and play one.

The DC3 has a steel block on the trem and an alder body. I have not played either model in several years and I never compared them side by side, but I am going to guess there will be some variation in tone.

I have a DC3 with a maple fingerboard that is my only Strat style guitar. I really like the single coil sounds. It’s my favorite single coil of all time. I liked it so much, I got a 509 to complement it. They are play well with each other, and the DC3 definitely has all the spank and quack I need for blues/funk. The DC3 also has the volume knob just far enough away so that it doesn’t bother me, and I don’t accidentally cut the volume down.

The DC 3 is a really nice guitar and is more Strat like than a 513 . I had a maple neck one 90% of what I wanted the neck was a bit small and the bridge pickup ( like the 305 and most strats ) didn't float my boat.
Like the 305 if you lower the pickups they get more spank ( strat like )

So what you are after is a short scale length Strat. I'm not sure there are many options for that. Fender seems to make something, and there are probably a few other third party manufacturers offerings too, but I can't think of anything from PRS.
There's something like this
https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/prod...ap-bar-whale-blue-birds-flame-maple-neck-10-t
But I don't think it will get very Strat like. Will still do bluesy single coil but it will be a different flavor. Much fatter sounding

Thanks guys for the responses I've been leaning towards the dc3 looking at the video's on the web and seeing your comments.

Now the hard part comes trying to find one in the UK with a maple neck

Does anyone know if there is anywhere I can go other than emailing prs to ask them how many dc3's were produced as they seem a really rare guitar. Only 1 on reverb in Europe and 1 currently in the US
