I had planned to spend my free time with playing a musical instrument. Still I am not sure what it will be – a piano, a guitar or a panflute. The sound of the last instrument is my favorite, but seems more difficult to use. I am looking for buying a guitar for now and could give an example in http://gigreadyguitars.com of the kinds I like but I am not sure about the quality and, on the other hand, would not like something more expensive, so I would like to receive your opinions too. Thanks in advance.

If you are looking for quality I reckon you came to the right place. Any of the PRS stuff you see in your price range would very likely make you quite happy.

Agreed....and not just saying this because we're all a part of this forum. When it comes down to it, if you're going to choose a guitar you will not find a better quality instrument for your money, whether you're spending $700 or $3K. Starting out, of course, I'd recommend the SE series. They're very good quality guitars for not a huge chunk of change and if you end up liking it a lot then there is the S2 series to "upgrade" to.

Do you already know how to play any of the three instruments you're interested in?

Thank you for the advices!

I want to spend my free time, not to become a music star.

Yes, I was just thinking it would be a good idea to get the instrument that you already know how to play, since you mentioned that you were trying to decide between piano, guitar and pan flute.

I have just tried to play them and the panflute seems hardest to use.

Can you guys explain the PRS hierarchy. I'm on the verge of buying my first prs and I know price isn't always an indication of quality. I'm still a beginner but I want something decent to learn on. I also enjoy hard rock and metal. Not sure if emg's are mandatory.

My price range is about $1k and under. I was considering the Paul Allender, custom 24 se, or Torero. I'm even willing to buy a used guitar.

We'll you have the SE line. Korean made, great guitars for the money, sub 1000 usually. Then a step up from there is the new S2 which is Maryland made with some Korean parts. Seem to be even better and around 1500-1600ish, I haven't really looked at them much. Then you step up to the core models these are the flagship PRS that everyone thinks of.

As far as the models you mentioned, there isn't going to be any difference in how the guitar feels between the SE CU24 or the Paul. The main difference is the pickups. The torero is a little different, it's got a through neck a little longer scale EMGs and Floyd rose. Just starting out I would suggest something with a stop tail like the sc245 but if your stuck on those three models then I'd say the CU24. Great around guitar can do hard rock/metal great and get your feet wet to see if this is for you. I'd also BUY USED. You don't want to spend up towards a grand and find out you don't like putting in the practice or time to turn around and sell you guitar for way less than half that...just my $0.02.

Thanks for the advice.

After shopping around and researching I decided to just go with the Paul Allender. Its wicked looking and I'm sure it will song great. I got it used and for the price, I couldn't pass it up.

In the future, granted im still playing, I will pick up a nice new S2 model.
