Hi I have bought a PRS SE Fredrik Akesson guitar today which I will eventually fit new pickups into. The pickups I ideally want come with a long legged bottom plate, will these fit into this guitar?

Thanks for the replies. I will take the guitar along to a local guitar tech and see which option is recommended. I have purchased the Slash Seymour Duncan pickup set.

It's doable if you don't mind the neck pickup about as high as it will go and use short mounting screws. Bridge pickup is no problem. I've installed the Slash set in an Sc-58, no problem.

Many thanks everyone, several options for me to consider when the time comes to fit my new pickups. For now I'm playing the guitar with the standard factory pickups so that I can get a idea of how different or not it sounds with the SD's fitted.

Would it be worthwhile me upgrading the electrics when having the new pickups fitted? I know Slash uses 500k audio taper pots in his guitars so maybe they are a better match.

Can I have a tone-report from you on that guitar? I have been lurking to put Alnico 2 pros in one of my PRSi, or Burstbucker Pros. My Les Pauls with them sound so raw and cool. All my PRSi kind of have the opposite tone :(

This is a very good question regarding the SE's. I will be interested in if they will fit. On the other hand I think that if you were to have a dealer call Seymour Duncan you would find that they would be happy to custom make you a shorter legged version of the pickup set, at almost zero extra cost. You might have to wait a week, They have made custom pickups for me; changing the polarity and wind direction of a pickup and then providing it to me at almost the same price as the unmodified pickup. The were quick about it and it turned out to work and sound great in my Fender Nashville tele.

I will be interested to see how you work thru this problem.
