Seems like a great fit with their full bodied frequencies and vintage tone. Curious to hear impressions if there are any?

I had a set of Imperials in a 2000 Singlecut I used to own. The bridge was regular wind, and sounded nice. But the low-wind in the neck was stellar.

Interesting. Seems the low winds get the most love from users.

Personally, I wouldn't go with a low-wind in the bridge unless you have a dark sounding guitar. I'm certainly not trying to sound like an authority, but I know what sounds *I* like. I normally go for a slightly overwound pickup in the bridge, because I usually tend to like a little "sizzle" to my tone. I prefer lower winds on the neck, because many pickups sound a little muddy in the neck. I find low-winds to have a slightly brighter tone, with better articulation.

YMMV, and all that.

Good luck!

Low winds are great for hollow or semi-hollow guitars, dark sounding guitars, or if you just want lower output, brighter pickups.

For solid body and tonally balanced guitars, a low wind in the neck with regular wind in the bridge is perfect, in my opinion. Great balance and the extra articulation in the neck is appreciated by my ears.

I have heard Lollars, and settled on WCR pickups instead in another guitar. They were pretty similar, but the WCRs had a bit more midrange in the bridge that I liked. I put one of them in a Cu-24 recently in place of the 85/15 and I like it. But tastes vary.

I have them in a Collings CL Deluxe that I really like. Since the woods/scale length are similar I assume they'd sound good most PRS guitars. I'm not a tweaker so I have never experimented or felt like I need to change pups so I'm worthless except for the above statement.

Damn! I'd love to get a Collings semi-hollow. Some of my favourite players use them

Fair enough. The opposite is why I like Lollar over other PAF style pickups, better balance. Some folks like that extra midrange honk, though.

Interesting. Did you do the American Steel set?
