I broke a string for the first time on my Custom 24 (D string) about 2 inches from the ball. I spent time re-tuning my guitar and then finished the song. When I had an opportunity to change the string, the locking tuner was so tight that I was removing skin from my thumb and index finger. I actually could not loosen it. I had to use my house key in my pocket to loosen it by going in the slot.
I never tighten the screws that much when I put on the strings, just hand tight. When I was home, I changed the rest of the strings and all the screws were all tight. Do they tighten on their own after you tune the strings on a regular basis? Is this why there is a slot on the screw to use a small screw driver to loosen the strings? This would mean I would need to leave a small screw driver in my guitar case.
I don't have this problem with my Silver Sky locking tuners by the way.
Anyone else find this issue?
