Locking tuners on a PRS SE Custom 24

shimmilou, So I have read about this but I an not sure how it works. Also, how long would I be without my tuners?

Send in your stock tuners, and Mann will convert them to lockers for 2/3 the price of new ones. It took about a week and a half from the time I mailed them til I got them back. But, I started with a set of the Grovers on my SE Tremonti, so I wasn’t without a guitar while I waited. When that set came back, I put them on another guitar, boxed up the stock tuners from that guitar to send them in for conversion. Eventually, I will replace the Grovers with a converted set, as I like the larger buttons on the PRS.

I installed SE locking tuners on my SE EG...i can confirm they work great. They are not open gear like the S2/Core tuners, but they do fit perfect and do their job.

Like Eddie, I always use the Hipshot open back locking tuners on my SE’s. Rock solid, not expensive, no holes drilled, and easy to remove if you want to sell the guitar.

On my SE, I use VANSON Tuners which I bought of eBay - £31 delivered and they are 19:1. Really smooth movement. On all my other guitars, I use Hipshot Open Gear Locking Tuners. Just as good to use as them.

Which one would be closer to US core model tuners and is one better than the other in some other way? I am trying to decide which one would best suit a Custom 24 SE.

Quality is equal, but the PRS factory parts sport a brass shaft.This makes them inherently closer to the Core model.
But mine are on sale
