Hey guys, I’m new to the PRS world and have my first PRS, a ‘97 McCarty coming my way tomorrow. The only thing I would change about it is put locking tuners on it. Now my question for you ‘90s McCarty owners that have installed locking tuners, who’s had experience with Kluson locking tuners with the thumb wheel and who’s had experience with MannMade modified Kluson tuners? I’m thinking the MannMade would be more of a direct fit. I have a buddy with an ‘96 McCarty that had to drill out the tuner holes on his headstock because the post diameter was larger on the Kluson locking tuner. Thanks in advance!

If you have to ream you have to ream. The tool is cheap and it's easy. Thumbwheels on the back for vintage tuners isn't for me. Half the reason I like vintage tuners is the looks, add a thumbwheell and its Mad Max.

John Mann is awesome.

I have 2 PRSi with vintage style tuners and they work fine, stable and precise.

Why would you want to change the tuners? For the quicker string change? Because it does nothing for tuning stability...
