Let's talk about Space Blue as a guitar color.

I ran across an S2 McCarty 594 Thinline model in a color finish called "Space Blue". My first impression is that I really like it. But I'm also under the impression that I like unique finishes more that most, and I'm also interested in "Space" (among other things). I even have an official Space Force K-Bar knife in my collection of fancy knives. In person, this color called Space Blue has a very good look to it. Very dignified. But what I'm trying to figure out how long will I like this color? It's brand new and my first impression is Wow! But is that just because it is new? Will the appeal eventually fade off?

Yes, the guitar itself is fantastic, and yes there is always going to be someone out there who says, "Who cares what it looks like, it's a tool, just play it." True, but having a guitar look really cool in addition to having the best sounding and best playing guitar is what I think we PRS guitar owners seek after. So it's important, especially when you play a guitar in front of a real audience. The audience likes to look at really cool looking guitars just as much we like looking at really cool looking guitars. But I also have a personal rule that I keep forgetting which states "Do not buy a guitar just because you like the color of it." This particular one comes with PRS USA made pickups in it already, which I also really like.

What does everyone think about this new guitar color called "Space Blue"?

I say nail it, the playability is a given, and especially if you dig it, the finish is ultimately for your enjoyment. If looks weren't so motivating to users, Friday Private Stock wouldn't be so captivating would it?

I don't like blue guitars, but oddly enough I like that version of blue over the glitzy blue candy kind of finishes. It has a utilitarian Army issue kind of vibe that screams workhorse that I can appreciate.

Seems to be true for one demographic, but SO not true for me. These cartoonishly large butts are going to trigger OSHA to require backup beepers!

I used to work with a woman who was rather large (and a huge PITA to deal with, but that's a whole other bunch of stories). One day, in the computer room, one of my buddies said to her, "Stand here and walk backwards." She asked him why, and he said, "Larry (another one of our friends there) said you can't walk backwards ten feet, and I bet him $20 that you can." She asked him to split the bet with her and he agreed, picked a starting spot (so they could measure), and started walking backwards. Two steps in, he started going "BEEP...BEEP...BEEP..." If she could have run, she might have caught him and killed him.

Another time, Larry (who was in computer operations) was off-site for disaster recovery, and we were sending messages back and forth because I was responsible for the testing at our end. He asked what was going on, and I said, "We all just sitting here having lunch." He asked what was going on, because that was definitely not normal. I said, "Candy wore corduroy pants today, so she's walking back and forth and we're roasting hot dogs over her thighs." He didn't respond for a few minutes, then finally said, "You SOB - I had to clean up the coffee I just spit out!"
