I'm thinking of getting a new cabinet and I'm curious what kind of PRS cabinets everyone is using. Post up some pictures of your cabs and heads. I'm especially interested to see what kind of interesting colors and/or tolex people went with.

Avatar. Cheap, carpentry is top notch, made in the USA, best price on Celestions I've ever seen.
I had an Avatar 412 in the studio for a while, and thought it was indifferently made. Also, the Tolex was poorly applied, and one of the handles had a sharp burr where you hold it - had to grind that off.
Sometimes you get what you pay for. I didn't think it was a premium product, let's put it that way.
Sound is subjective, I realize, but I thought it sounded a bit dull compared to other cabs I've had with the same speakers. Taking the back off to try to figure out why, I noticed that the plywood that the back was made of was soft enough to easily bend. Maybe the soft wood was the problem.
Could have been just that speaker cab, but thinking about meh sound quality, and the fit/finish issues, plus the obviously bad piece of wood, I can't imagine that I'd choose them again for a cab.
PRS, Mesa, Bogner...yes. Nothing but good results there.

that's too bad. I took the backs off mine to investigate a speaker swap. My buddy does custom woodwork and he was impressed- said he couldn't build anything better. *shrugs* Everyone lets out a lemon. Was the cab you used purchased NIB by you? If so, did you contact Dave about it? I must admit, yours is probably the only bad review I've ever seen.
As for getting what you pay for, companies like Mesa make good cabs, but they aren't worth the sticker price. Buying used? Then I definitely agree. But then again, buying used is usually the best way to go. Let someone else take the hit. lol

With my SCTME. It's a 1996 Plexi head passed down from a family friend that was in pretty bad shape when I got it last year. A call to Splawn fixed all that! They made me a nice new head shell and two 4x12's to match. They did a superb job, the fit and finish is outstanding. I rebadged them with Marshall logos to get the authentic look. They came out exactly what I was looking for! Great customer service and awesome sound to boot! Too bad I'm always at school and never have time to go home and play it!!

Yup. I don't buy used gear, as a rule. I didn't call the company to complain, as I really wasn't upset; as you said, these things sometimes happen, and it's possible I just had a "meh" experience.
I replaced it with an oversized Bogner 212 that in all honesty worked better for what I was working on at the time.
Value is subjective. - one player's "not worth the sticker price" is another player's excellent value.
For example, I make my living in the studio. I'm perfectly willing to pay a premium for gear that does what I expect it to do. I've found a few brands that I can rely on, based on my experiences in the studio over the last 25 years. If I order a PRS, or a Mesa, Two-Rock, Bogner, etc., I'm a lot happier with the result.
That makes it more valuable to me, and worth the asking price. It's not worth compromising my work in an effort to save a few hundred bucks. I might feel differently if it wasn't my livelihood.
Incidentally, my needs change from time to time, and when it comes time to sell, I've gotten top dollar for Mesa gear. So that's another thing that makes it valuable at buying time.

Nothing special, but Captain Broken Record here thinks the pine 2x12 is the best thing since sliced bread. 
They come up used periodically and though still a bit pricey, it's such a good sounding cab. No special colors, just Stealth, and I think it looks good with a white geetar.

Those upright widebody slant 2x12s are the bees knees. You almost never see them.
Dear PRS, please make a clone of these cabinets. Make sure they are at least 23.5" wide. Love, John Beef.

They pop up around the midwest frequently, maybe it's a regional thing.. I'm obsessed with their road-ready cabs but they mostly pop up on the right-coast.

This is the first (and only) time I've not been in total agreement with one of Les' comments...but I am a BIG fan of Avatar cabs. The ability to get whatever custom speaker(s)/cab type/configuration/cosmetics you want, great quality (in my opinion), very reasonable pricing and excellent service. More than a few making up the foundation of my "amp forts".

I only have three cabs at the moment.
A Carvin 4x12, a Carvin 2x12, and an Orange 1x12.
The Carvins use their house speakers which are called G12s I think, and the Orange has a Celestion Vintage 30 in it.
The 2x12 to the right of my sons SE Semi-Hollow.
Have to thin out some of my stuff, I really do not use the HT5R-H head and Orange cab, so I may end up giving that setup to my son.
He only has a Fender Mustang One at the moment.

This is my only rig right now, HXDA and Stealth 2x12. I had 2 Mesa 1/2 stacks before this and loved them, just got tired of carrying them around without a gorilla to help

I'm down to a few different 1x12 or 1x15 combos or heads/cabs for the same reason you got rid of your 4x12 rigs. I'm getting too old to carry that much and am tired of being told to turn down.
