Who said that?

I must have misunderstood something. I only know of one dingbat who has me on ignore status but I think it would be cool to know who else for sure so that I could troll them with messages posted where everyone else could see but the individual isn't seeing the message. hahahha But there is probably a rule against that too. (sigh) But that WOULD be funny though.

From this thread title “I messed up….” Would indicate that the OP didn’t mean to cause other forum members to press the “ignore” button.

Content that is blatantly non PRS is not really respectful, as one of the rules is to keep the content PRS based.

Using language such as “fanboy” “scam” is likely not to endear anyone.

It appears that certain content may be being uploaded to evoke a reaction from other forum members. This kind of behaviour will again not endear anyone who does this to other people here.

This is a relatively peaceful and respectful space where we can share similar likes. There is a level of banter here that is in no way meant to cause offence. However like any social situation, there may already be friendships in real life and history (good & bad) between some.

Any new member coming to the forum cannot expect others to know them and usually there is a settling in period. I’ve be been here for nearly seven years and sometimes I still feel like the new boy.

I refrained from typing a reply like this for over a month now. However I feel it’s time to put my feelings out here, because this situation is becoming uncomfortable.

But hey what does it matter how I feel. I’m just some dude from Scotland who got sent a guitar by a bunch of guys he’s never even met? That’s the sort of place this is, like nowhere else that I know online.

May everyone have a safe, peaceful day.

I thought the ;) was implied.

Geez... This thread was a joke... Nothing more.

And you're talking about the Switchcraft thread, right???

Although I have used "Fanboy", I have not used "Scam", at least not in the way you're implying. The scam thing was about a non-PRS related item/website, I don't think you read my comments, I think you saw that I wrote "scam link" and made an assumption of sorts. The fanboy thing comes from members saying things like "There's nothing wrong, you can't have that issue, thousands of PRS owners are happy with it and and have never had an issue". That "Fanboy" logic shouldn't be allowed, it just doesn't make the forum look good.

Let's look at the facts, almost everyone here claims someone has blocked them. That suggests that there's been quite a few instances of drama. What we can be honest about it that evidence supports just the opposite of "This is a peaceful place", however I can agree that the mods have been fair enough to not give in and ban or delete accounts by giving into members preferences and favoritism.

I don't really post off-topic nonsense, as far as Non-PRS, I'd like to see where this applies. I post mostly in the General Discussion and when it has to do with modding my PRS guitars, I'll post that in the General Discussions thread.

I'm not worried or interested in "getting a reaction", I think we both know that that will happen regardless of what I post lol The title of this thread was meant for nothing but a short laugh, it wasn't meant to gain attention, or whatever salty members may want to put there. Some members understood, kudos to them! Some members didn't get it, perhaps it's up to them to either get to know me or widen their horizon (I shouldn't have to explain all this if the forum is as easy going as some claim, explaining myself also defeats the purpose of the joke/sarcasm).

There's a few members I've butted heads with and with each of them, I've seemed to find common grounds with, at least. So there's that. And I think there are others who post more "Off topic" comments/threads but my style is unbearable to some. Meh. All I can do is keep being me. I've always tried to communicate well and have posted some great PRS content (videos) from my channel as well as carefully thought out reviews (latest review that long review of the Silver Sky SE).

Let's continue to pretend that my helpful threads like this do not exist ;)
And yes, I realize that some members zero in on one small thing they don't like and can tend to make that the focal point there-on in order to make the OP seem like they are here from some agenda. That's a common thing with forums, nothing new and I shouldn't be held accountable for any one or multiple members reading into something that never was simply because they have some ideal walking into the thread beforehand. I don't think I'll ever feel like I'm responsible for that lol

Now then, since I've joined here, within the last few months, I've heard many ramblings of members blocking and being blocked, just as this thread, the comments were meant as playful. Of course.

Hopefully this helps clear things up, I thought it was fair to address those few things as I don't like half-truths :) Congrats on the guitar, however I feel like that was used in order to detract from the focal of the half-truths. Anyway, I don't doubt this forum has some great gents, just bringing in mind that it's a forum....

Apologize for the rapid edits, I'm on my phone and connection is not sound where I'm at.

Thanks for the input! I appreciate you brother :)

Well reasoned, well written and most likely well received by most. Thanks, Reuben.

I'd typically agree but the assumptions/accusations aren't thwarted by a group of members who bought and sent someone a guitar. I'm happy for him but just saying :)

Long time/well known members on the forum will agree with what they want to hear vs the truth. That is common general behavior for a forum.

This forum is for prs and prs related topics.

I have enjoyed my time here and have found this forum to be incredibly useful. Lots of great folks on here.

I find some of the banter here as of late to be very Jr. High-ish and rather embarrassing which also happen to be the EXACT reasons why I don't frequent other forums.

I have zero authoritive power here but I would ask that we leave the foolish banter for reverb or TGP and get back to helping each other with our musical endeavors and build new friendships.

Thanks.

I thought it was a joke, but with what could be interpreted as a passive aggressive comment in the very first sentence in the thread, it was hard to know for sure. So, not saying anything you don't already know, but the things people can't see on the internet are the tone of your voice, or the look on your face. Trust me, I learned the hard way. Make a joke and have people offended, people thinking you're a jerk, etc., because they took it seriously, when you were just trying to have fun and make others laugh. Sometimes still I'll throw a smiley face in JUST for those who won't automatically know that I'm joking.

However, your posting style in general does lend itself to some of the blowback you're getting. Look at the very post above this, where you say...

Long time/well known members on the forum will agree with what they want to hear vs the truth.
A new guy coming into a group where people don't know him very well and almost constantly calling out the established "group" is not going to lead to you being selected Homecoming Queen. You know this. But you do it often. You are admittedly new to PRS but immediately came in the forum posting about constant problems with SE guitars. MANY here have owned SE guitars for decades without these problems that you continually said were so common. Then it turns out that on SOME models, very recently, and some conditions, there have been a few of these issues. Yet you continued to call out those who said you were wrong, and make condescending remarks like this one I just quoted.

As I said more than once in that thread, "new guy with an issue on his SE who googles it and finds a couple others with the same issue" is NOT the same has having ongoing issues with this or any other problem with them, as you implied. When confronted with years of ownership saying it's not a common issue, never has been, rather than YOU do more research and find out that I was right, and that only a few people on only a specific set of options and only very recently has this been an issue, you instead decided to again call us fanboys who believe what they wanted, rather than the facts.

I've always said "perspective is 90% of reality." You come to a new place and think you know what you're talking about. There are people here who have owned tons of SEs and many for decades and don't know you. They didn't say "you're wrong, your guitar doesn't have issues, it's you!" They said "this is not common and these are not ongoing issues." The way you responded to these people who have owned them for years, and know better, was not the way I would have chosen to respond. Heck, I have an American Silver Sky and it has problems, but it was previously owned and that owner was the source of at least several of them. If I come here and say "My SS has this this and this problem" and the guys here say "that is not common at all. We've owned them since they were released and none of us had this issue," rather than tell them they were fanboys and being offended, I'd feel better that the QC is not bad on these and that my issues A) can be easily fixed and B) were mostly the result of someone messing with it.

Think about the perceived reaction to a new guys posts made to a well established group. Are you trying to fit in, or stir up? Even if you're not TRYING to stir, how would it be perceived by someone who doesn't know you, and can't see you laughing while you post it? And I wouldn't take the time to write all this if I was trying to run you off. But it's pretty easy to tone it down just a little bit, (whether you mean it to be inciting or not) and you'd quickly see your issues go away. Who knows, maybe you don't mean ANY of your posts to create drama. Maybe you just drink too much coffee or are the innocent victim of the age of clickbait and drama creating titles and posts and that's just how you post now. (My personal favorite was the review thread title with "and why it matters" in the title. :D) That seems way more like a content creator who came here to gain view of their channel, than someone trying to fit in with a group. But maybe that's just MY perception, but I laughed out loud when I read it. But think about your doubling down on the $200 Squire vs. what many feel is "best in price range" SE guitars that cost 4-5 times as much. Even with fret sprout or another issue, you would be in the minority of people who would consider those guitars of equal quality. And not because we're PRS fanboys.

This is all just my opinion and may not be shared by others.

Thanks for speaking out.

It seems that even when I post reviews of PRS products, listing things I like or/and things I don't like, seems I'm targeted. I don't feel like a victim, I do feel like a villain. General Discussions is made for all things PRS or non, so was never sure why other members post about Hockey. Babes or what have you, it's kinda selective selective double standad, as they are not told to stick to PRS. It makes this forum a joke really.

I made a thread with Paul quotes, it got trolled to the point where it got deleted. Made a thread about Orianthi which also got trolled and deleted, things like this where long time, everyday using members made the forum look bad and creating unsafe environment for the public reader and I was blamed.

I'm not saying that with any type of attitude, just calling it out how it is. The forum is great one but far from perfect. I will leave and the forum won't prove to be a better place

You know me too well! This is why we butted heads but also why we get along.

Thankful for you bro!

Hey, I hope you DO fit in here and stick around. Truth is, Les and I have been eyeing you for a position in our band. We saw that pic you posted where you had sort of a "Goth Flock of Seagulls" look going on, and figured you could pull in a whole new demographic of women to our shows!

Neither Les nor I can pull off that look, which you do quite commendably.

It's not how you feel. It's the words you use that always seem to reference back to you being the victim of some grand forum conspiracy. I'm not one bit suggesting I know how you feel. That's between you and your therapist. We're guitarists here to talk gear and occasionally off track with some banter, insert Julie Bowen comment here. Agree or disagree. Accept or don't. It's not personal but the gaslighting is getting old to the point you realize it. You talk about not a good look, well, then stop. We don't want to hear it anymore either. We're guitarists. That's the noise we like.
