Hey y'all.
Ive been working on a project and putting together lesson plans and would like to know where everyone stands.

I'm trying to find out what kinds of questions people have about learning guitar, or what topics any of you wish you knew more about.

Could be techniques, theory, scales, note recognition, ear training anything really.

Thanks!

Ryan,

I think a good place to begin is teaching common aspects of practice and technique, so folks don't develop bad habits from the start.

I personally would like to see teaching basic scales, in various positions on the fretboard, then connecting the positions so that the scales can be used most anywhere the length of the fretboard. Teaching correct picking technique. You could move on to teach the various "colors" of scales for ear training (though this is an advanced lesson). I'd also like to see how to modulate the length of the fretboard using various modes, for a variety of jazz flavors. (My previous jazz teacher taught this, could use a refresher course). Then, how to comp. Walking bass lines. Chord melody.

Hope this isn't too tall a request. Good luck!

Awesome thank you for your input! I've started out in a similar fashion. 3 note groupings in every possible combination across the fretboard from open position treble to bass. Ive found this helps moving fluidly with position shifts, really learning the board as well as getting the sounds in your ear. If anyone wants to shoot me their email I can send PDF copies as I finish them.
