Been experimenting with the 89 ce and 2019 ce semi hollowbody using Boss EQ 200, Boss IR2, and Empress compressor thru the Mesa 5:50 Express. I set channel 1 for clean and channel 2 for edge of breakup before using any of the pedals. I only use the IR2 to give the clean a Fender sound or Mesa Rectifier high gain. I found using the Empress as a boost instead of compression gives me some really good overdrive on channel 2. I'm getting good tones from this setup. Especially using channel 2 with the boost. I even got a bonus of finally getting some useful tones out of the '19 ce after 5 years! I do have a Nobels and SD-1 on the board but I don't use them much since I found the boost.
